Antiparasitic drugs have widespread use in livestock to control parasitic infections. Their use can lead to residues in animal-derived food products, which can pose potential health risks to consumers. Therefore, a method has been developed for the semi-quantitative screening of 51 antiparasitic drug residues in avian eggs, using a QuEChERS based extraction method and analysis by UHPLC-MS/MS. This extension to coverage of these analytes also includes an approach to the analysis of the traditionally difficult avermectin class of analytes using source optimisation and post-column infusion. The method was validated according to CIR (EU) 2021/808 and the detection capability (CCβ) was set at 5 µg kg for all analytes, except fipronil and its metabolites, at 1.25 µg kg. Additionally, a novel standard addition based confirmatory method for 10 analytes with MRL values was implemented, in accordance with EURL guidance.

Background: Parasite antigens and plasma lipopolysaccharide (LPS) levels from luminal origin in visceral leishmaniasis (VL) patients are correlated with cellular activation and low CD4+T cell counts.
Objectives: Our aim was to verify whether Leishmania infantum infection damages the intestinal barrier and whether combination antimonial/antibiotic contributes to the reduction of LPS levels and immune activation.
Methods: Golden hamsters were grouped in: G1-uninfected; G2-infected with L.

This in vitro study evaluated the effect of proanthocyanidin, palm oil, and vitamin E against initial erosion. Bovine enamel blocks (n = 140) were divided into 14 groups: C+_SnCl2/NaF/Am-F-containing solution (positive control); C-_deionized water (negative control); O_palm oil; P6.5_6.

This report describes a case of ivermectin toxicosis in a 4-day-old thoroughbred colt successfully treated with intravenous lipid emulsion (ILE) without complications. This case supports the use of ILE as a safe and effective therapy for the management of lipophilic drug toxicosis in foals. Key clinical message: Ivermectin toxicosis, though rare in equine neonates, can occur following accidental overdose and induces severe neurologic signs.

Gastrointestinal eubiosis is essential for maintaining overall host wellbeing. Post-weaning diarrhea (PWD) is a common issue in pig development, arising from weaning stress, which disrupts the gut microbiota balance and increases susceptibility to infections. The primary bacterial pathogen linked to PWD is enterotoxigenic (ETEC).

, a causative agent of lymphatic filariasis, relies on its endosymbiont for survival. MurE ligase, a key enzyme in peptidoglycan biosynthesis, serves as a promising drug target for anti-filarial therapy. In this study, we employed a hierarchical virtual screening pipeline to identify phytochemical inhibitors targeting the MurE enzyme of the endosymbiont of (MurE).
