Introduction: Patient priorities for anesthesia during a cesarean delivery are not well defined. Previous studies have explored patient preferences for cesarean delivery anesthesia but have not evaluated patient-centered endpoints unrelated to the physical experience which are known to be important to patients' birth experiences, such as being treated with respect, communication, and emotional support. The study aimed to determine whether confinement with TMR during the first 21 DIM, followed by grazing supplemented with partial mixed ration (PMR), alleviates negative energy balance, enhancing productive performance and accelerating the resumption of ovarian cyclicity in primiparous and multiparous dairy cows, relative to a control group managed on grazing supplemented with PMR after calving. Following calving, 16 primiparous and 24 multiparous Holstein dairy cows were blocked and randomly distributed into 2 treatments: one included grazing plus supplementation with PMR after calving (T0), while the other one involved confinement with TMR ad libitum during the first 21 DIM and the same feeding management of T0 from d 22 onwards until 60 DIM (T21). Primiparous cows showed no significant differences between treatments in milk production.

Background: Increasing balance and stability, along with efficient locomotion, is a high-priority goal of physical rehabilitation after limb loss in order to facilitate effective participation in society. Research in the general population suggests that the ability to walk fast is correlated to good performance in balance tests. This study explores the integration of ecosystem services within the water-energy-food-environment (WEFE) nexus framework to inform conservation and development planning in the Upper White Nile basin in East Africa, an area faced with interconnected socio-ecological and climatic challenges. Employing a multi-method approach combining stakeholder valuations and biophysical mapping, we assess the spatial distribution of WEFE-related ecosystem services across the basin and compare them to current conservation measures. Findings reveal a heterogeneous distribution of ecosystem services across the basin, with environment-related services, such as carbon sequestration and environmental quality, dominating spatially (56 %), particularly in the northeastern part of the basin, while food-related services (27 %) are concentrated in the western and eastern regions.

Federated Learning (FL) offers a promising privacy-preserving framework for collaborative global model training without exposing local private data. However, system heterogeneity in FL causes the straggler issue, where resource-limited edge devices delay global model aggregation. Existing approaches, such as asynchronous mechanisms or kick-out methods, primarily focus on optimizing model convergence efficiency but often overlook edge resource constraints, potentially resulting in model bias toward high-performance devices or omission of critical data.
