Functional genomics using CRISPR (Clustered Regulatory Interspaced Short Palindromic Repeats)/Cas (CRISPR-associated endonuclease)-based approaches has revolutionized biomedical sciences. Gene editing is also widespread in parasitology generally and its use is increasing in studies on helminths including flatworm and roundworm parasites. Here, we survey the progress, specifically with experimental CRISPR-facilitated functional genomics to investigate helminth biology and pathogenesis, and also with the burgeoning use of CRISPR-based methods to assist in diagnosis of helminth infections. We also provide an historical timeline of the introduction and uses of CRISPR in helminth species to date.

Purpose: Tumor comprehensive genomic profiling (CGP) may detect potential germline pathogenic/likely pathogenic (P/LP) alterations as secondary findings. We analyzed the frequency of potentially germline variants and large rearrangements (LRs) in the RATIONAL study, an Italian multicenter, observational clinical trial that collects next-generation sequencing-based tumor profiling data, and evaluated how these findings were managed by the enrolling centers.
Patients And Methods: Patients prospectively enrolled in the pathway-B of the RATIONAL study and undergoing CGP with the FoundationOne CDx assays were included in the analysis.

Rising atmospheric CO exposes plants to high-CO environments, while excessive nitrogen fertilizer use degrades soil, highlighting the need to reduce nitrogen input and cultivate vigorous cucumber seedlings under HC-LN conditions. Calcineurin B-like proteins (CBLs) sense calcium signals and regulate carbon/nitrogen metabolism via CBL-interacting protein kinases (CIPKs), though their roles in cucumber under HC-LN conditions are unclear. Here, we identified seven and 19 genes.

Cyanobacteria played a pivotal role in shaping Earth's early history and today are key players in many ecosystems. As versatile and ubiquitous phototrophs, they are used as models for oxygenic photosynthesis, nitrogen fixation, circadian rhythms, symbiosis, and adaptations to harsh environments. Cyanobacterial genomes and metagenomes exhibit high levels of genomic diversity partly driven by gene flow within and across species.

Breastfeeding is essential for reducing infant morbidity and mortality, yet exclusive breastfeeding rates remain low, often because of insufficient milk production. The molecular causes of low milk production are not well understood. Fresh milk samples from 30 lactating individuals, classified by milk production levels across postpartum stages, were analyzed using genomic and microbiome techniques.

Biology has been transformed by the rapid development of computing and the concurrent rise of data-rich approaches such as, omics or high-resolution imaging. However, there is a persistent computational skills gap in the biomedical research workforce. Inherent limitations of classroom teaching and institutional core support highlight the need for accessible ways for researchers to explore developments in computational biology.
