Article Abstract

Naphthoxy-imine pyridine zinc and magnesium complexes were synthesized and fully characterized by nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR). In the presence of an alcohol as initiator, both complexes promoted the ring-opening polymerization (ROP) of L-lactide (L-LA), ε-caprolactone (ε-CL), β-butyrolactone (β-BL), trimethylene carbonate (TMC), and 1-methyl trimethylene carbonate (Me-TMC), which was purposely synthesized from CO and the appropriate diol. The zinc complex exhibited notably high activity, particularly in the polymerization of lactide and TMC, and was subsequently employed in the synthesis of polytrimethylene carbonate-based diblock and random copolymers with both ε-CL and L-LA. Furthermore, the zinc complex demonstrated its ability to close the life cycle of the synthesized materials by successfully depolymerizing both polytrimethylene carbonate (PTMC) and its copolymers.

Associations between element mixtures and biomarkers of pathophysiologic pathways related to autism spectrum disorder.

Objective: We previously documented that exposure to a spectrum of elements is associated with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). However, there is a lack of mechanistic understanding as to how elemental mixtures contribute to the ASD development.

Materials And Methods: Serum and urinary concentrations of 26 elements and six biomarkers of ASD-relevant pathophysiologic pathways including serum HIPK 2, serum p53 protein, urine malondialdehyde (MDA), urine 8-OHdG, serum melatonin, and urine carnitine, were measured in 21 ASD cases and 21 age-matched healthy controls of children aged 6-12 years.

Background And Aim: The global demand for efficient poultry production necessitates alternatives to antibiotic growth promoters. This study aimed to evaluate the effects of a novel four-component organic-mineral feed additive (OMFA), comprising lactulose, arginine, ultrafine silicon dioxide particles, and succinic acid, and a three-component variant (without lactulose) on growth performance, nutrient digestibility, elemental tissue composition, and the cecal microbiota of Arbor Acres broiler chickens.

Materials And Methods: One hundred and five one-day-old broiler chicks were randomly allocated into three groups: Control, Group I (four-component OMFA), and Group II (three-component OMFA).

Background: Evidence on the relationship between dietary minerals and mental disorders remains limited and inconsistent. This study assessed the associations between twelve essential minerals and six major mental disorders.

Methods: We included 199,877 participants from the UK biobank without implausible energy intake, missing covariates, or baseline mental disorders.

Introduction: Dependent older adults in residential aged care are at increased risk of inadequate micronutrient intakes. Knowledge of dietary intakes in this group is needed to inform clinical decision making and guide nutrition policy and menu planning. This study aimed to determine the usual intake and food sources of micronutrients of New Zealand aged-care residents.
