Article Abstract

Six new polyketides including three isocoumarins (1-3) and three α-pyranone derivatives (4-6) were isolated from culture of the mangrove-derived fungus Exserohilum rostratum NS-KS-3, together with the known compounds (7-9). The planar structures of these new compounds were determined on the basis of NMR and mass spectroscopic data analyses. The absolute configurations of the new compounds were determined by comparing the experimental ECD spectra with the calculated ECD spectra. The new compounds 1, 2, 4, and the known compound 7 showed α-glucosidase inhibition activities with IC values of 0.093, 0.168, 0.250, and 0.154 mM, respectively.

Can the DSE Fungus Mitigate the Effect of Salinity on the Grass ?

Plants (Basel)

August 2025

Facultad de Agronomía, Universidad de Buenos Aires, Buenos Aires C1417DSE, Argentina.

Dark septate endophytes (DSEs) are commonly found in saline environments, such as the Flooding Pampas (Argentina), where the forage grass has been introduced. This study evaluated the effect of salinity on the DSE fungus , isolated from , and its contribution to the grass's salinity tolerance. Two greenhouse experiments were conducted under three salinity levels (0, 40, and 80 meq Na·L), with and without fungal inoculation.

Leaf blight disease of maize was observed during a field survey of Karnataka and Maharashtra in 580 and 360 ha areas, respectively, conducted in the Kharif season of 2020 at V3 to V7 growth stages. The symptomatic plants showed grey to brown spindle-shaped spots. Four fungal isolates (Ero_DWD-27, Ero_DWD-20, Ero_Mya-1 and Ero_Rri-1) were obtained.

Leaf diseases in Zea mays crops have a significant impact on both the calibre and volume of maize yield, eventually impacting the market. Prior detection of the intensity of an infection would enable the efficient allocation of treatment resources and prevent the infection from spreading across the entire area. In this study, deep saliency map segmentation-based CNN is utilized for the detection, multi-class classification, and severity assessment of maize crop leaf diseases has been proposed.
