Article Abstract

Appropriate definitions and measures of quality are needed to guide research design and evaluation. Traditional disciplinary research approaches have well-established evaluation criteria and processes in which research quality is often narrowly defined. In contrast, emerging change-oriented transdisciplinary research (TDR) approaches integrate disciplines and include societal actors in the research process in multiple ways and contexts. Standard research assessment criteria are simply inadequate for TDR, and inappropriate use of standard criteria may disadvantage TDR proposals and impede the development of TDR. This paper presents a Quality Assessment Framework (QAF) designed for TDR, along with guidance for its application. The background outlines the origin of the framework in a systematic review of literature on the definition and assessment of transdisciplinary research quality, and the subsequent application, testing and refinement of the framework, including discussion of key revisions. It also compares the QAF with two other similar evaluation frameworks. The QAF is designed for a range of users, including: research funders and research managers assessing proposals; researchers designing, planning, and monitoring a research project; and research evaluators assessing projects . The framework is organized as:•Four principles of TDR quality•Specific criteria aligned with each principle•Standardized four-point scoring.

Background: Knee osteoarthritis (OA) causes pain and diminishes quality of life. Backward walking exercise (BWE) has been shown to improve lower muscle strength and reduce knee adduction moment, making it a recommended intervention for knee OA rehabilitation. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of BWE combined with conventional rehabilitation programs on pain intensity and disability among individuals with knee OA.

Importance: Patients with inflammatory rheumatic diseases (IRDs) frequently experience psychological distress; however, access to psychological support remains limited.

Objective: To investigate the effectiveness of a digital psychological intervention for individuals with IRDs.

Design, Setting, And Participants: Participants aged 18 years or older were recruited across Germany between February 22 and June 4, 2024, if they had been diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis, psoriatic arthritis, or systemic lupus erythematosus and reported psychological distress and reduced quality of life.

Purpose: The purpose of this document is to review current methods for cervical ripening and to summarize the effectiveness of these approaches based on appropriately conducted outcomes-based research. This document focuses on cervical ripening in individuals with term, singleton, vertex pregnancies with membranes intact, because this is the population in whom most studies were conducted. For more information on recommended timing of delivery based on maternal, fetal, and obstetric conditions and on labor management, refer to: American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) Committee Opinion No.

Ethnic fermented foods represent a significant repository for discovering novel probiotic entities. These fermented foods, entrenched in indigenous practices, have conserved a distinct microbiota through generations. Exploration of these fermented foods could yield microbial consortia capable of transforming human health.

The aim of the study was to evaluate the toxic metals (TMs) pollution, bioaccumulation and its potential health risk via consumption of different vegetables irrigated by different water sources released from industrial estates of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Water (fresh and waste), soil and vegetables samples were collected in triplicates and acid digested. Digestion of samples were followed by evaporation and filtration and then assessed for TMs via atomic absorption spectrophotometer.
