Quercetin (QUE) is a functional flavonoid molecule with low water solubility. The study of its amorphous solid dispersions (ASDs) is still insufficient. This work reveals that the solubility of the physical mixtures of anhydrous QUE and polymers (PVP or soluplus) is better than that of the ASDs of QUE and the corresponding polymers. Gel-like phase separation occurring during the QUE ASDs dissolution process (weak in ASDs with PVP and strong in ASDs with soluplus) reduces the driving force for QUE release, which makes research on the QUE ASDs insufficient, and can be avoided in the QUE physical mixtures with polymers. Combination of metastable polymorph and polymer is a feasible strategy for improving the solubility of poorly water-soluble molecules whose ASDs encounter the gel-like phase separation.

Objective: The objective of this work is to investigate different sunscreens and Viscogel group organoclays for the preparation of new intercalated sunscreens to improve the effectiveness and safety in photoprotection using new approach methodology (NAMs).
Methods: For this study, we examined Diethylamino hydroxybenzoyl hexyl benzoate (DHHB), octyl methoxycinnamate (OMC), Bemotrizinol (BEMT) and Viscogel S4®, S7®, and B8® using a set of Saccharomyces cerevisiae mutant strains that are sensitive to UVA, UVB and Solar Simulated Light (SSL) to evaluate their photoprotective and mutagenic potential. Additionally, we developed delaminated nanocomposites by chemical intercalation reactions followed by ultrasonic treatment to enhance clay exfoliation.

Objective: Humans are exposed to complex mixtures of environmental chemicals and other factors that can affect their health. Analysis of these mixture exposures presents several key challenges for environmental epidemiology and risk assessment, including high dimensionality, correlated exposure, and subtle individual effects.
Methods: We proposed a novel statistical approach, the generalized functional linear model (GFLM), to analyze the health effects of exposure mixtures.

Ionic liquids (ILs) are a class of organic salts with melting points below 100°C. Owing to their unique chemical and physical properties, they are used as solvents and catalysts in various chemical transformations, progressively replacing common volatile organic solvents (VOCs) in green synthetic applications. However, their intrinsic ionic nature can restrict the use of mass spectrometric techniques to monitor the time progress of a reaction occurring in an IL medium, thus preventing one from following the formation of the reaction products or intercepting the reaction intermediates.

A series of niobium oxyiodide compounds has recently been identified using a non-conventional reduction method. The continuation of these studies of heterogeneous solid-state reactions in a closed system has led to the crystallization and structural analysis of two novel compounds LiNbOI and NbOI(NbI). Both crystal structures are derived from the pentanuclear [NbO] cluster core and are expanded through the incorporation of additional niobium atoms, forming new [NbO] and [NbO] cluster cores.

Introduction: Benchtop and animal models have traditionally been used to study the propagation of Onyx Liquid Embolic Systems (Onyx) used in the treatment of brain arteriovenous malformations (AVM). However, such models are costly, do not provide sufficient detail to elucidate how variations in Onyx viscosity alter flow dynamics, and rely on some trial-and-error, resulting in elongated timelines for product development.
Objectives: The goal of this study was to leverage Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) simulations to predict the behavior of different Onyx formulations.
