Article Abstract

We present analytical procedures for the measurement of mass-dependent Ge isotope compositions using a Ge-Ge double spike and multiple-collector inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (MC-ICP-MS). Two different mass spectrometers (ThermoScientific Neptune Plus and Neoma) and two different sample introduction systems (Teledyne Cetac Technologies HGX-200 hydride generator and, for the first time in Ge isotope analyses, a Cetac Technologies Aridus II desolvator) were used. A series of analytical tests demonstrate that our analytical procedure efficiently separates Ge from the sample matrix and provides accurate and precise Ge concentration and isotope data for both instruments and sample introduction methods. The external reproducibility (2 s.d.) of the entire analytical procedure is ±0.09‰ for Ge (the permil deviation from the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) Standard Reference Material (SRM) 3120a). Using the new methods, we obtained Ge isotope data for an Alfa Aesar Ge standard solution, the NIST SRM metals 129c and 261, two terrestrial basalts (BHVO-2 and BCR-2), and eight iron meteorites. We find excellent agreement between the data obtained using the hydride generator and using the Aridus II desolvator. Due to the overall easier use of the latter, the desolvator may be the sample introduction system of choice for most Ge isotope applications. Overall, the samples of this study show Ge variations up to ∼2‰, and in agreement with literature data, indicate that mass-dependent Ge isotope variations may be used to study a wide range of geochemical and cosmochemical processes.

Introduction: Information on tertiary hyperparathyroidism (THPTH) among chronic kidney disease (CKD) patients on haemodialysis in developing countries such as India is limited, and the mortality among them remains a query.

Materials And Methods: This was a prospective cohort study conducted in at a tertiary care centre from June 2017 to June 2022. The index of suspicion for tertiary hyperparathyroidism was when investigations revealed high serum calcium and high alkaline phosphatase along with new onset of body aches, joint pains, and difficulty in walking.

Introduction: Allogeneic hematopoietic stem-cell transplantation (allo-HSCT) requires reliable vascular access for medication, transfusion, and blood sampling, which often involves painful venipuncture. This prospective study evaluated a novel dual peripherally inserted central venous catheter (PICC) technique to reduce venipuncture frequency in allo-HSCT recipients.

Methods: The study enrolled 29 allo-HSCT recipients.

Introduction: We attempted to perform a comprehensive bioinformatics analyses on osteoarthritis (OA) based on the NKT-related genes and explore the clinical related critical genes.

Methods: Differentially expressed genes (DEGs) and NKT-related genes from WGCNA were obtained using the dataset GSE114007, followed by intersection analysis to obtain NKT-related DEGs. Lasso regression, support vector machine and random forest were performed to screen feature genes, followed by verification with ROC curve, and nomogram model.

Introduction: Blood supply shortages remain a pressing global health issue, particularly in resource-limited regions. The West Bank region in Palestine, characterized by frequent conflicts and instability, faces additional challenges due to its fragile healthcare system, where a substantial proportion of blood donations still relies on family-replacement donors rather than voluntary donations.

Objective: This study examines changes in knowledge, attitudes, and practices (KAP) related to blood donation among Palestinians from 2022 to 2025, aiming to guide strategies for a sustainable voluntary donation system.

Introduction: Cultural competence is crucial in nursing education, with nurse educators playing a key role. However, limited research has explored factors influencing their cultural competence.

Objectives: This study has two aims: to assess cultural competence levels and transcultural teaching behaviors among academic nurse educators and to explore the factors influencing these cultural competencies through both quantitative and qualitative analyses.
