This systematic review explores the role of cross-sectional imaging modalities-computed tomography angiography (CTA) and magnetic resonance angiography (MRA)-in the preoperative planning of dialysis vascular access for patients with end-stage renal disease (ESRD). A systematic search was conducted using PubMed and Cochrane databases, yielding 45 studies meeting inclusion criteria. These modalities are particularly valuable in cases of complex vascular anatomy, central venous stenosis, and prior surgical interventions. Findings emphasize the advantages of CTA for detailed anatomical mapping and MRA for cases requiring soft-tissue contrast or preservation of renal function. Representative clinical cases illustrate how imaging findings directly influence surgical and endovascular decision-making, optimizing patient outcomes. This manuscript describes the role of cross-sectional imaging for dialysis circuit vascular access interventions including representative clinical examples.

Background: Electrical impedance myography (EIM) has been proposed as an efficient, non-invasive biomarker of muscle composition in facioscapulohumeral muscular dystrophy (FSHD).
Objective: We investigate whether EIM parameters are associated with muscle structure measured by magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), muscle histology, and transcriptomic analysis as well as strength at the individual leg muscle level.
Methods: We performed a multi-center cross-sectional study enrolling 33 patients with FSHD.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to assess the reflectivity of the outer retinal layers (ORLs) in patients with central serous chorioretinopathy (CSCR) and to examine the relationship between the dimensions of the subretinal fluid (SRF) and ORL.
Methods: This retrospective, cross-sectional study included 33 eyes of 33 patients with CSCR and 33 age- and gender-matched controls. Unnormalized and relative reflectivities for the retinal pigment epithelium (RPE), the external limiting membrane (ELM), and the ellipsoid zone (EZ), as well as SRF height, base width, and area, were measured on optical coherence tomography images.

Hepatic encephalopathy (HE) is a neurological condition that occurs as a complication of liver dysfunction that involves sensorimotor symptoms in addition to cognitive and behavioral changes, particularly in cases of severe liver disease or cirrhosis. Previous studies have reported spatially distributed structural and functional abnormalities related to HE, but the exact relationship between the structural and functional alterations with respect to disease progression remains unclear. Background: The hippocampus plays a critical role in psychosis, with reduced volume observed across the psychosis continuum. These structural changes are associated with cognitive deficits, symptom severity, and increased risk of psychosis progression. Elevated hippocampal perfusion and glutamate/GABA (gamma-aminobutyric acid) imbalance further suggest metabolic dysregulation as a key mechanism.
