Intensity-modulated radiotherapy (IMRT) in combination with magnetic resonance imaging (MRI)-guided gated delivery represents the latest development in the treatment of abdominothoracic tumours on MR-linac. In contrast, volumetric-modulated arc therapy (VMAT) is typically used on conventional linacs due to its superior delivery efficiency and speed. Non-inferior VMAT plans were created in a research treatment planning system for eight lung cancer patients previously treated on an MR-linac. VMAT plans were delivered on a moving dosimeter using respiratory multi-leaf collimator (MLC) tracking. VMAT with MLC tracking achieved an average 2%/2 mm local gamma pass rate of 93% relative to planned dose with a delivery efficiency of 83%.

Maintaining a healthy pool of circulating red blood cells (RBCs) is essential for adequate perfusion, as even minor changes in the population can impair oxygen delivery, resulting in serious health complications including tissue ischemia and organ dysfunction. This responsibility largely falls to specialized macrophages in the spleen, known as red pulp macrophages, which efficiently take up and recycle damaged RBCs. However, questions remain regarding how these macrophages are acutely activated to accommodate increased demand.

Degradation during production and delivery is a significant bottleneck in developing biomolecular therapies. Protein cages, formed by engineered variants of lumazine synthase, present an effective strategy for the microbial production and isolation of labile biomolecular therapies. Genetic fusion of the target polypeptide to a cage component protomer ensures its efficient encapsulation within the cage during production in host bacterial cells, thereby protecting it from degradation.

Violacein exhibits antitumor activity, indicating potential for future clinical application. However, an efficient delivery system is required for the clinical use of this hydrophobic compound. Effective delivery systems can enhance the solubility and bioavailability of hydrophobic compounds like violacein, facilitating its clinical application for antitumor therapy.
