Article Abstract

Cavity-enhanced spontaneous parametric down-conversion (SPDC) provides a significant way to produce ∼10  MHz narrow-band photon pairs, which matches the bandwidth of photon for quantum memory. However, the output photon pairs from the cavity are not entangled, and postselection is required to create the entanglement so far, so the direct output of cavity-enhanced narrow-band entangled photon pairs is still an open challenge. Here, we propose a solution that realizes the first postselection-free cavity-enhanced narrow-band entangled photon pairs. The entanglement is achieved in degree of freedom of orbital angular momentum (OAM) by an OAM-conservation SPDC process in an actively and precisely controlled cavity supporting degenerate high-order OAM modes. The measured linewidth and fidelity are 13.8 MHz and 0.969(3), respectively, for the directly generated OAM entangled two photons. We deterministically transfer the OAM entanglement to polarization one with almost no loss and obtain polarization entangled two photons with a fidelity of 0.948(2). Moreover, we produce narrow-band OAM-polarization hyperentangled photon pairs with a fidelity of 0.850(2), which is realized by interfering the two photons on a polarizing beam splitter (PBS) and postselecting the events of one and only one photon on each PBS port. Novel cavity may find applications in cavity-based light-matter interaction. Our results provide an efficient and promising approach to create narrow-band entangled photon sources for memory-based long-distance quantum communication and network.

Objectives: Determine differences in quantitative stenosis severity measurements for ultra-high-resolution (UHR) photon-counting-detector (PCD) coronary CT angiography (cCTA) relative to energy-integrating-detector (EID) cCTA in a large patient cohort.

Methods: Adult participants seen between November 2022 and March 2023 underwent a clinical dual-source EID-CT cCTA and a research dual-source PCD-CT cCTA on the same day. Percent diameter stenosis (PDS) was measured, and stenosis severity was assigned based on the PDS of the most severe lesion per patient to determine a coronary-artery-disease reporting and data system (CAD-RADS) score.

Easily processed metal-free phosphorescent luminophores with a fast rate of phosphorescence are emerging as promising materials for advanced optoelectronics. Alkylation of a modified vitamin B6 vitamer (pyridoxine) affords a family of pyridinium-derived ionic pairs 1-7 exhibiting variable anion-π interactions in the solid state. Such a noncovalent cation-anion network promotes tunable room-temperature phosphorescence (RTP, = 510-565 nm) in crystalline materials stemming from anion(I)-π(pyridinium) charge transfer.

Although the photochemistry of nitrobenzene has been extensively studied, the assignment of fragmentation channels and their specific dynamics remains challenging. Here the photochemistry of nitrobenzene following 240 nm excitation into its S excited singlet state is investigated by femtosecond laser-induced ionization using an intense 800 nm pulse, coupled with time-resolved Coulomb explosion imaging and covariance mapping. We assign photochemical channels by observing correlations between the molecular fragment ions of the associated product pairs, enabling the time-resolved dynamics of channels leading to NO, NO, and CHNO to be fully characterized.

Hierarchical clustering analysis is applied to the positioning of two simultaneously-occurring intrusion events in the case of a dual Mach-Zehnder interferometer used for intrusion detection. To simulate the two intrusion events, the sensing fibers of the dual Mach-Zehnder interferometer are heavily knocked at two different positions simultaneously. Then the clockwise (CW) and counter-clockwise (CCW) signals are loaded into a personal computer through a data acquisition module, and analyzed by Fourier transform method for determination of the time delay between the two signals.
