Vibrational spectroscopy is the ultimate tool to reveal whether any donor-acceptor system is truly delocalized and therefore characterized by a single-welled potential energy surface, or if it is marginally localized with a barrier that defines two minima. Our femtosecond IR absorption investigations on cyanide-bridged mixed valence systems show a broad, intense and downshifted CN vibration signature, revealing, for the first time, an asymmetric, fully delocalized Class III photoinduced mixed valence system.

Objectives: In ENGAGE, patients with major depressive disorder (MDD) demonstrated improvements in patient-reported depression and life engagement while taking adjunctive brexpiprazole. This analysis aimed to further characterize patient perspectives on the effects of adjunctive brexpiprazole, using patient diary data from ENGAGE, and describe development of a 'word of the day' activity.
Methods: Prior to ENGAGE, word lists describing a 'good,' 'average,' and 'bad' day with depression were generated from semi-structured interviews with patients with MDD.

Objective: Although emotions and postural control are strongly intertwined, more research is necessary to understand this intricate relationship. Therefore, we examined the effect of script-driven emotional imagery on postural control in healthy individuals.
Methods: Forty-four healthy participants (50 % female, median age=27) imagined three emotional imagery scripts (hostile, acceptance, relaxation) in upright standing without visual input while center of pressure (CoP) was measured (mean sway, sway velocity, , and standard deviation in antero-posterior and medio-lateral directions, and sway path and area).

Layered van der Waals (vdW) materials, characterized by their interlayer vdW gaps, offer exceptional tunability of magnetic properties via intercalation chemistry. A wide range of magnetic behaviors have been observed in nonmagnetic transition-metal dichalcogenides intercalated with magnetic atoms. Beyond the incorporation of magnetic ions, we propose the controlled alkali-ion intercalation of intrinsic vdW magnets as a strategy to probe and manipulate spin populations and exchange interactions within individual magnetic layers.

Cyclic oligomers with multiple redox centers are ideal models for intramolecular electron transfer processes, as they feature well-defined spatial geometries and degenerate energy states. The design and synthesis of such structures with strongly interacting monomers, however, remains a significant challenge. Here, we report a one-pot synthesis of an acetylene-bridged ferrocene macrocycle (9) using alkyne metathesis, with a remarkable 43% isolated yield.

Emotional granularity (EG), or emotion differentiation, reflects the ability to distinguish between same-valenced emotional states in a nuanced way. While traditionally considered a stable trait, recent research shows that EG can fluctuate within individuals, influenced by situational factors such as stress. Building on this work, the present study investigated how momentary pain as a specific stressor relates to momentary EG in the daily lives of individuals with chronic pain.
