Better growth outcomes in GH-deficient children treated younger than 2 years of age.

Endocr Connect

September 2025

Department of Paediatric Endocrinology, Alder Hey Children's NHS Foundation Trust, Liverpool, UK.

Background: Limited data are available on the growth response to growth hormone (GH) treatment of very young children with GH deficiency (GHD). In the present analysis, we compared clinical outcomes after GH treatment in children with GHD aged <2 and ≥2 years at the start of GH treatment.

Methods: We analysed pooled data from two observational studies of paediatric patients who received Norditropin® treatment: NordiNet® IOS (NCT00960128) and the ANSWER Program (NCT01009905).

Objectives: This umbrella meta-analysis aimed to answer the clinical question: Do mini-screws and micro-implants improve specific orthodontic outcomes such as intermolar width, interpremolar width, suture expansion, molar movement, and skeletal width compared to conventional anchorage methods?

Materials And Methods: A systematic search was performed in PubMed, Scopus, ISI Web of Science, and Google Scholar up to October 2024. Systematic reviews and meta-analyses on mini-screws and micro-implants in orthodontic treatment were included. Methodological quality was assessed using AMSTAR 2, and a random-effects model was used to calculate effect sizes (ESs) and 95% confidence intervals (CIs).

Purpose: Glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) receptor agonists and sodium-glucose cotransporter-2 (SGLT-2) inhibitors represent major advancements in the management of type 2 diabetes. However, many patients remain suboptimally managed with these therapies. This underutilization highlights the need for practical implementation strategies in real-world settings.

Background: Although early palliative care (EPC) integrated into standard cancer care improves the quality of lives of patients with cancer and their caregivers, implementation strategies for EPC programs in individual clinical settings have not been established.

Objective: This pilot randomized controlled trial explored the feasibility, acceptability, and effectiveness of nurse-led EPC using a screening-based program that focused on the individual concerns of patients with advanced lung cancer and their caregivers.

Design: This pilot study was a parallel-group randomized controlled trial in which patients were randomly assigned (1:1) to receive either EPC using the care program or standard care alone.

Background: Rhinosinusitis (RS) is a leading reason for antibiotic prescriptions but treatment satisfaction is low. Misdiagnosis may contribute to poor outcomes, as migraine-often underrecognized-can mimic RS symptoms, with studies showing overlap between RS and migraine diagnoses. Our aims were to explore the demographics and clinical features of facial pain or pressure (FPP), its relationship with migraine and RS, and distinguish symptoms between these overlapping conditions.
