Harnessing solar energy to convert molecular N into nitrogen-rich chemicals (e.g., ammonia) provides a potential pathway for the manufacture of "solar fertilizers". However, the solar-to-ammonia (STA) efficiency of most solar fertilizer systems developed to date is less than 0.1%. Herein, an outstanding STA efficiency of ≈0.3% using a metallic molybdenum trioxide (metallic MoO) photocatalyst under simulated-solar irradiation is reported, with localized surface plasmon resonance phenomena in the metallic MoO photocatalyst enhancing both light utilization and N activation. The potential scalability of the photocatalytic technology is demonstrated in a 1 m panel reactor system, with a high STA efficiency and good stability demonstrated over 6 days of outdoor testing, yielding a solid (NH)SO product for easy collection. The as-designed square-meter outdoor reaction system facilitates the integration of solar fertilizer technology with existing agricultural infrastructure.

A novel electrocatalyst, zirconium ferrite nanoparticles (NPs) (ZrFeO NPs), was synthesized through coprecipitation and calcination processes at 300 °C and 500 °C using iron rust. The ZrFeO NPs were used as catalysts for the hydrogen evolution reaction. Furthermore, these NPs in an alkaline medium exhibited superior properties of a fractional order supercapacitor, based on which a prototype device was fabricated to demonstrate its energy storage applications.

Optical cooling is a key technique for preparing ultracold atoms in quantum technologies and precision experiments. We employ shortcut-to-adiabaticity (STA) techniques to accelerate and stabilize laser-based atomic cooling protocols. This approach improves the performance of conventional adiabatic momentum transfer schemes by addressing key limitations such as Doppler shifts, laser intensity fluctuations, and spontaneous emission.

Objective: To observe the effects of moxibustion (moxibustion for benefiting the marrow and nourishing the heart) in sequential trial on blood pressure (BP), perimenopausal symptoms, cardiovascular function and heart rate variability (HRV) in prehypertension in perimenopausal women.
Methods: The eligible female patients of prehypertension of perimenopausal period were collected according to the inclusion criteria. Based on the requirements of open two-way qualitative response sequential trial, the sample size was not set in advance, and the matched pair design was used for random division into a moxibustion group and a health education group.

Due to their comparable molecular dimensions and volatility, distinguishing CH from CO during purification remains a significant challenge in industrial applications. Achieving effective isolation of CH from binary mixtures of CH/CO is therefore a critical objective in petrochemical processes. Herein, an adsorption mechanism enabling selective CH/CO separation has been elucidated in the phosphonate metal-organic framework (MOF) Ni-STA-12.

Natural polysaccharides have demonstrated considerable potential as binding agents in aquafeed formulations, enhancing water stability and reducing nutrient leaching and pellet disintegration in aquatic environments. In this study, four isoproteic diets (32% crude protein) were formulated using different binders: carboxymethyl cellulose (D, control), purple fingerling potato (D), taro root (D), and glutinous rice (D). Each diet was administrated to Asian catfish (Clarias batrachus) (mean initial weight: 6.
