Standardizing tumor measurement on F-FDG PET is crucial for the routine clinical use of powerful PET-derived lymphoma prognostic factors such as metabolic tumor volume (MTV) and total lesion glycolysis (TLG). The recent proposal of an SUV of 4 as a new reference segmentation threshold for most aggressive lymphomas may homogenize volume-based metrics and facilitate their clinical application. This study compared MTV and TLG in primary mediastinal B-cell lymphoma (PMBCL) patients estimated using an SUV of 4 and the current threshold at 25% of SUV Baseline PET metrics were evaluated in 501 PMBCL patients from the IELSG37 trial. Median MTV and TLG estimated with the 25% of SUV threshold were significantly lower than those obtained with the new reference threshold; however, an extremely high correlation was observed between the methods for both MTV ( = 0.95) and TLG ( = 0.99), resulting in superimposable prognostic power. These findings support the routine use of an SUV of 4 for volumetric measurements in PMBCL.

Objectives: The European Society of Medical Oncology supports the use of surgery with adjuvant radiotherapy in resectable Masaoka-Koga Stage IV thymomas. We explore the role of extended pleurectomy decortication (EPD) and extrapleural pneumonectomy (EPP) in the management of patients with Masaoka-Koga stage IV thymic tumors with pleural involvement from our single-center experience.
Methods: We conducted a retrospective analysis of patients who had undergone extended resections over a 10-year period for Masaoka-Koga stage IV thymomas at our thoracic unit in the United Kingdom.

Background: This study aimed to investigate survival outcomes, the efficacy of lymph node (LN) dissection, and recurrence patterns in patients who underwent salvage surgery (SALV) for esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC) after definitive chemoradiotherapy (dCRT).
Methods: We retrospectively reviewed 69 patients with clinical stage I-IV thoracic ESCC who underwent SALV. Recurrence patterns and the distribution of LN metastases were analyzed according to the primary tumor location.

Ankylosing spondylitis (AS) is a chronic inflammatory spondyloarthropathy that predominantly affects the axial skeleton. While hallmark features such as sacroiliitis and syndesmophytes are well recognized, the presence of mediastinal masses may pose a diagnostic dilemma and raise concerns for malignancy or atypical infection. We report a middle-aged man in the fifth decade of life with longstanding untreated AS presenting with progressive quadriparesis.

Fluorine-fluorocholine (F-FCH) is a radiopharmaceutical used in primary hyperparathyroidism. The data about its utility in malignancies other than prostate and hepatocellular carcinoma is limited. We present the case of a patient who was referred for F-FCH positron emission tomography/computed tomography (PET/CT) due to the persistently elevated parathormone and calcium levels following total thyroidectomy with left lower parathyroidectomy for parathyroid carcinoma (PTC).

BackgroundThe diagnosis of blunt thoracic aortic injury (BTAI) is challenging. In this study, a prediction model with a simplified scoring system for BTAI was developed for the primary evaluation of trauma patients in the emergency department.MethodsThis retrospective cohort study included blunt chest trauma patients.
