The Balkan Peninsula is a European biodiversity hotspot, home to 6,500 native vascular plant species, many of which are endemic. The region has diverse range of climates and complex topography, creating conditions that suit many woody ornamental, fruit, and forest species. Nevertheless, climate change, habitat destruction, invasive species, plant diseases, and agricultural practices threaten natural ecosystems and cultivated species.

Corrosive sulfur compounds and trace moisture were key factors causing the rapid deterioration of finished mineral oils. In power systems, insulating oil contaminated by such substances not only threatens the stable operation of power equipment but also transforms into hazardous waste due to performance degradation. This study innovatively developed a sulfur-modified TiO-loaded SiO nanocomposite (S-nTDSGS) adsorbent, which was comprehensively characterized by scanning electron microscopy, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, and specific surface area analysis.

Microbial desalination cells (MDCs) have traditionally employed simplified NaCl solutions as feedwater for synchronous desalination and bioenergy recovery. Nevertheless, the specific mechanisms by which MDCs remove complex multi-ions from saline wastewater remain obscure. This study thoroughly investigated ion migration, bioelectrochemical dynamics, and microbial ecological responses across three distinct configurations: monovalent ions - PMDC, divalent cations - CMDC and anions - AMDC.

The growing issue of petroleum-based polymer waste demands sustainable recycling strategies, with enzymatic processes offering a promising solution. This study investigates enzymatic decomposition of polyethylene terephthalate (PET) and polybutylene adipate terephthalate (PBAT) by Gordonia species, known for their pollutant-degrading capabilities. When cultivated with PET, G.

The surface chemistry of Ti40Zr alloys plays a significant role in the formation of the bowl-shaped morphology of polydopamine (PDA). The bowl-shaped PDA morphology formation mechanism on the metal surface and its potential application in biomineralization and long-term stability as an implant material were investigated systematically. A novel nonsacrificial template-assisted bowl-shaped hollow capsule PDA formation was formed on alkali-treated Ti40Zr.
