A new device, LMA Gastro™, on the horizon for endoscopy procedures: A narrative review.

J Anaesthesiol Clin Pharmacol

September 2024

Department of Onco-Anesthesiology and Palliative Medicine, DRBRAIRCH, AIIMS, New Delhi, India.

Interventional endoscopy procedures are challenging for anaesthesiologists due to the various patient, procedural, logistic, and position-related issues. Complex endoscopic procedures like biliary interventions and endoscopic myotomy necessitate longer procedural duration. The mode of anaesthesia is usually deep sedation without any definitive airway device and is frequently associated with hypoxemia events which can be catastrophic.

Review: Fish bile, a highly versatile biomarker for different environmental pollutants.

April 2024

Laboratório de Avaliação e Promoção da Saúde Ambiental, Instituto Oswaldo Cruz, Fundação Oswaldo Cruz, Av. Brasil, 4.365, Manguinhos, Rio de Janeiro 21040-360, Brazil. Electronic address:

Ecotoxicological assessments encompass a broad spectrum of biochemical endpoints and ecological factors, allowing for comprehensive assessments concerning pollutant exposure levels and their effects on both fish populations and surrounding ecosystems. While these evaluations offer invaluable insights into the overall health and dynamics of aquatic environments, they often provide an integrated perspective, making it challenging to pinpoint the precise sources and individual-level responses to environmental contaminants. In contrast, biliary pollutant excretion assessments represent a focused approach aimed at understanding how fish at the individual level respond to environmental stressors.

Clinical outcomes after transplantation of domino grafts or standard deceased donor livers: a systematic review and meta-analysis.

J Gastroenterol Hepatol

April 2024

Transplantation Center, Digestive Disease and Surgery Institute, Department of Immunology, Lerner Research Institute, Cleveland Clinic, Cleveland, Ohio, USA.

Background And Aim: Domino liver transplantation (DLT) utilizes otherwise discarded livers as donor grafts for another recipients. It is unclear whether DLT has less favorable outcomes compared to deceased donor liver transplantation (DDLT). We aimed to assess the outcomes of DLT compared to DDLT.

Background: Laparoscopic cholecystectomy is one of the most frequently performed operations in the United Kingdom, commonly due to symptomatic gallstones. Delay between diagnosis and definitive surgical intervention often leads to a significant readmission rate, growing financial burden and increased complexity of the ultimate surgical intervention. Resource reallocation and reduced operational capacity during the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic has led to an impending waiting list crisis.
