There are two types of criteria for diagnosing gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM). The first is based on measurement of three values on the glucose tolerance test (GTT) and making a diagnosis when any value is abnormal (individual time-point criterion). The second is based on creating a weighted average of the three values and using the average to split glycemic status into normal gestational glycemia (NGG), impaired gestational glycemia (IGG), gestational diabetes (GDM), or high-risk gestational diabetes (hGDM) (unified criterion).

Background: The utility of a nurse-led telemonitoring approach (NLTA) is yet to be firmly established in diabetes management.
Objective: This study aims to examine the effect of a 12-month proactive NLTA on metabolic and psychological health indices in individuals with diabetes during the COVID-19 pandemic, and to evaluate it as a new diabetes model of care.
Methods: The telemonitoring study group (TSG; n=91) comprised adults who had attended an Australian tertiary hospital diabetes center between January 2019 and March 2020.

Introduction: It is well known that platelets from diabetic patients can be resistant to clinically used antiplatelet drugs.
Methods: To assess the phenomenon in more detail, 50 adult patients suffering from type 1 diabetes mellitus (T1D) were recruited and their responses to 7 platelet aggregation inducers, as well as to 3 clinically used antiplatelet drugs (acetylsalicylic acid /ASA/, ticagrelor and vorapaxar) and one experimental compound, 4-methylcatechol, were assessed ex vivo. A control group of 50 generally healthy age-matched controls was also included for comparison.

Metabolic bariatric surgery is a highly effective and long-lasting treatment for obesity and related chronic conditions. Women of reproductive age represent the largest group undergoing these procedures. Observational studies suggest an increased risk of preterm birth and impaired foetal growth in this population, though the underlying mechanisms remain unclear.

Background: Childhood obesity is a worldwide public health problem that increases the risk of chronic diseases. In 2016, more than 340 million children and adolescents aged 5 to 19 years were living with overweight or obesity.
Objectives: To assess the effects and safety of interventions using digital technology - that is, interventions applied to achieve health objectives implemented within any digital application, communication, or system - for the integrated management of obesity in children and adolescents.
