Variability in radiation-related health risk and genetic susceptibility to radiation effects within a population is a key issue for radiation protection. Besides differences in the health and biological effects of the same radiation dose, individual variability may also affect dose distribution and its consequences for the same exposure. As exposure to radon progeny affects a large population and has a well-established dose-effect relationship, investigating individual variability upon radon exposure may be particularly important.

Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is a prevalent respiratory condition associated with increased morbidity and mortality, particularly during respiratory infections such as influenza. The interaction between COPD and influenza is multifaceted, involving compromised immune responses, chronic inflammation, and impaired lung function. Influenza infection can exacerbate COPD, leading to acute exacerbations, hospitalizations, and higher mortality.

Background: Acute lung injury (ALI) is a critical clinical condition with high mortality, necessitating the development of more effective therapeutic strategies. Rho Guanine nucleotide dissociation inhibitor (GDP) beta (ARHGDIB) has been shown to exert protective effects against noxious stimuli in various disease models.
Objective: In this study, we investigated whether ARHGDIB knockdown had a protective effect on lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-induced injury in alveolar epithelial cells and elucidated its underlying molecular mechanisms.

Objective: Postoperative intraluminal thrombosis after frozen elephant trunk replacement has been reported to occur with a frequency of 6% to 17% and is associated with poor outcomes. The purpose of this institutional review is to analyze thrombosis rate, predisposing patient and operative factors, and assess different anticoagulation regimens.
Methods: This retrospective cohort study includes 174 patients operated on over 10 years.

commonly causes community-acquired pneumonia (CAP) in young adults, but it rarely leads to acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS). Macrolides are commonly used as the first-line treatment for pneumonia; however, the incidence of macrolide-resistant (MRMP) has increased, particularly in East Asia. There are few case reports of severe ARDS in adults caused by MRMP.
