Article Abstract

Rational design of intricate multicomponent reticular structures is often hindered by the lack of suitable blueprint nets. We established the merged-net approach, proffering optimal balance between designability and complexity, as a systematic solution for the rational assembly of multicomponent structures. In this work, by methodically mapping node-net relationships among 53 basic edge-transitive nets, we conceived a signature net map to identify merging net pairs, resulting in the enumeration of 53 merged nets. We developed a practical design algorithm and proposed more than 100 multicomponent metal-organic framework platforms. The effectiveness of this approach is commended by the successful synthesis of four classes of materials, which is based on merging three-periodic nets with the four possible net periodicities. The construction of multicomponent materials based on derived nets of merged nets highlights the potential of the merged-net approach in accelerating the discovery of intricate reticular materials.

Assembly of Supramolecular Polyoxometalate-Cyclodextrin-Based Frameworks Driven by the Chaotropic Effect for Enhanced Proton Conductivity.

This study reports on two multicomponent hybrid supramolecular assemblies by integrating polyoxometalates (POMs) and cyclodextrins (CDs) through noncovalent interactions, namely, (NH)KH[{FeMo(OH)O}(γ-CD)]·26HO (denoted as {FeMo}(γ-CD), ) and (NH)KH[{FeMo(OH)O}{MoO}(γ-CD)]·29HO (denoted as {Mo}{FeMo}(γ-CD), ). represents a two-component open framework built from Anderson-type {FeMo} units by interacting with the external surface of γ-CD while could be viewed as a three-component hybrid when inner cavities of (γ-CD) species in are filled by the formed Lindqvist-type {MoO} anions driven by a chaotropic effect. This pair of hybrid supramolecular assemblies provides a molecular-level platform for exploring the structure-property relationships related to proton conductivity.

Nanoparticles for treatment of cadmium-contaminated cocoa-growing soils and beans: Performance on metal immobilization and removal.

Some areas of tropical soils where cocoa grows contain high cadmium (Cd) concentrations. The cocoa plant's need for nutrition causes the reticular system to uptake the toxic metal, translocate it, and accumulate it in roots, stems, and other edible parts such as cocoa beans and shells, threatening the health of cocoa consumers. To cope with this difficulty, different treatments have been applied to cadmium-contaminated soils, but they showed limited success.

Delirium is a complex neurocognitive disorder characterized by an acute disturbance in attention, awareness, and perception. It is a dangerous syndrome that is independently associated with higher rates of morbidity and mortality, inpatient complications, and is a predictor of long-term cognitive dysfunction. Although delirium can occur in persons of all ages, the prevalence among and impact on older adults is particularly significant.

Spark's nevus is a particular type of melanocytic nevus, with histology that shows features of both Spitz and Clark nevus. Detailed dermoscopic features in a series of Spark nevi have not been described yet. We performed a monocentric retrospective observational study on 20 lesions of Spark nevus excised from 19 patients (M:F = 10:9; mean age: 37,6 years), reviewed by 5 experts in dermoscopy and 2 dermatopathologists.
