Hepatitis C virus (HCV) clearance markedly reduces the risk of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC); however, HCC continues to develop in a subset of patients, particularly in those with advanced fibrosis or cirrhosis. Leading hepatology societies, including Asian Pacific Association for the Study of the Liver, European Association for the Study of the Liver, American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases, Korean Association for the Study of the Liver, Taiwan Association for the Study of the Liver, and Japan Society of Hepatology, have issued divergent guidelines for HCC surveillance after sustained virologic response, which reflects variations in regional patient populations, healthcare infrastructure, and policy priorities. While traditional risk stratification primarily centers on histological staging of fibrosis, an array of additional host-related factors, including age, sex, alcohol use, metabolic comorbidities, and genetic and epigenetic profiles, further influence individual HCC risks.

There is an urgent call to transform nursing education in response to evolving changes in healthcare. It is critical that nursing graduates are prepared to thrive and deliver care in complex environments to increasingly diverse populations. This article describes a nursing school's approach to achieve these goals and presents details of work completed during the early phases of curriculum revision to integrate the American Association of Colleges of Nursing's (AACN's) 2021 publication, The Essentials: Core Competencies for Professional Nursing Education, into the baccalaureate programs.

Background: Select patients with metastatic clear-cell renal-cell carcinoma can be treated without systemic therapy, yet few studies have explored this population. We investigated the efficacy of metastasis-directed therapy without systemic therapy in oligometastatic clear-cell renal-cell carincoma.
Methods: This investigator-initiated single-arm, phase 2 trial enrolled patients aged 18 years or older with an Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group performance status of 0-2, histologically confirmed clear-cell renal-cell carcinoma, and one to five metastases.
