Article Abstract

Purpose: As a first step towards developing a core outcome set (COS) for lateral femoral cutaneous neuropathy, the goal of the current study was to perform a systematic review of the literature to identify outcome measures that have been previously reported in studies on lateral femoral cutaneous neuropathy.

Methods: A systematic review of the literature from 2000-2024 was performed utilizing PubMed and Medical Subject Headings (MeSH). Identified articles were screened according to study inclusion/exclusion criteria. Outcome measures reported in each included study were recorded and categorized into motor, sensory, pain, patient-reported outcomes, psychological, electrodiagnostic outcomes, imaging outcomes, and other outcomes. Descriptive statistics were performed.

Results: A total of 80 articles were initially identified, and 10 articles met criteria for inclusion and underwent analysis. The most common outcome domain was patient-reported outcomes, which were reported in 7 (70%) studies. However, the specific patient-reported outcomes were very heterogeneous. A pain outcome was reported in 6 (60%) studies. Motor, psychological, imaging, and electrodiagnostic outcomes were not reported in any study. Across the included studies, 14 unique outcomes were reported.

Conclusions: We have identified the outcome measures that have previously been utilized in studies on lateral femoral cutaneous neuropathy. Patient-reported and pain outcomes were most commonly used across the included studies.

The bony consolidation of fractures depends on various factors. Under optimal conditions fracture healing takes place within a few weeks. An essential requirement for fracture healing is the restoration of adequate biomechanical stability with an interfragmentary movement which is as ideal as possible.

Purpose: The purposes of this study were threefold: (1) to evaluate the influence of femoral antecurvature on coronal alignment changes following supracondylar femoral derotational osteotomy (FDO); (2) to investigate the combined effects of derotation angle and osteotomy orientation in relation to femoral antecurvature and (3) to propose a practical strategy for minimising valgus deviation after FDO based sagittal femoral bowing.

Materials And Methods: Sixty-six cadaveric femoral computed tomography (CT) scans were analysed using three-dimensional (3D) simulation. Femurs were classified into three groups based on the degree of antecurvature using the distal diaphyseal angle (DDA).

Background: Lower extremity alignment in knee osteoarthritis (OA) is conventionally assessed using standing radiographs. However, symptoms often manifest during gait. Understanding dynamic alignment during gait may help characterize disease progression and inform treatment strategies.

Surgical approach does not influence instability risk in primary total hip arthroplasty with monobloc dual mobility cup.

Background: The impact of the surgical approach on the risk of dislocation in total hip arthroplasty (THA) remains controversial, particularly when monobloc dual mobility cups (DMCs) are used. This study aimed to compare dislocation and complication rates between the postero-lateral and direct anterior approaches with a DMC in primary elective THA, based on data collected from a single center.

Methods: Between 2010 and 2022, 1,378 consecutive primary THAs were performed using a monobloc DMC.

Introduction: Complex soft tissue injuries in the facial area can arise from various causes. Surgeons face significant challenges when reconstructing these injuries, as they must select appropriate materials based on texture and color, while also considering their composition and properties. The anterolateral thigh (ALT) flap has emerged as a versatile option in clinical reconstructive surgery, offering many advantages over other free flaps.
