The Tone River in Japan represents one of the southern limit distributions of chum salmon (Oncorhynchus keta) on the western side of the North Pacific, but the number of adult chum salmon observed here has declined dramatically since 2013 and reached zero in 2024. The factors behind the recent decline of the chum salmon population in the Tone River were investigated by using ocean reanalysis data and a 20-year particle-tracking simulation. Virtual chum salmon fry were released at the mouth of the Tone River in spring each year with six different swimming strategies to evaluate the effects of ocean currents on the population growth rate of salmon.

Purpose: We aimed to analyze our radiotherapy protocol by evaluating its effect on recurrence patterns and survival outcomes.

Methods: We assessed 69 patients diagnosed with IDH-wild-type glioblastoma who underwent chemoradiotherapy at our institution from January 2014 to January 2021. A high-risk clinical target volume (CTV) was created with a 1 cm margin in all directions from the GTV, while a low-risk clinical target volume (CTV) was established with a 2 cm margin.

The global shortage of suitable donor kidneys is the primary challenge in kidney transplantation, and it is exacerbated by ageing donors with increased numbers of health issues. Improving organ assessment, preservation and conditioning could enhance organ utilization and patient outcomes. Hypothermic machine perfusion (HMP) is associated with better results than static cold storage by reducing delayed graft function and improving short-term graft survival, especially in kidneys recovered from marginal-quality donors.
