To develop successful training methods, effective acquisition of motor skills in swimming is essential. Emerging technologies, such as virtual and augmented reality, offer innovative ways to enhance learning and performance in this area. This study investigates the influence of video modeling (VM) supported by virtual reality (VR) on the swimming performance of novice swimmers compared to conventional training methods.

Purpose: To assess the usability of a smartphone-based augmented reality tool for capsulorhexis training.
Methods: This is a single-center, prospective, clinical study conducted at the Department of Ophthalmology, University Hospital, LMU Munich, Munich, Germany. Surgery-naïve residents were included and divided into three subgroups: (1) augmented reality supported by the Custom Surgical MicroREC system during their capsulorhexis procedures; (2) Expert support supported by an experienced cataract surgeon; (3) No support without support.

Objective: Dorsal instrumentation using pedicle screws is a standard treatment for multiple spinal pathologies, such as trauma, infection, or degenerative indications. Intraoperative three-dimensional (3D) imaging and navigated pedicle screw placement are used at multiple centers. For the present study, we evaluated a new navigation system enabling augmented reality (AR)-supported pedicle screw placement while integrating navigation cameras into the reference array and drill guide.
