Background: Complete endoscopic resection of superficial non-ampullary duodenal epithelial tumors (SNADETs) is technically difficult, especially with an extremely high risk of adverse event (AE), although various endoscopic resection methods including endoscopic mucosal resection (EMR), underwater EMR (UEMR), and endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD) have been tried for SNADETs. Accordingly, a novel simple resection method that can completely resect tumors with a low risk of AEs should be developed.
Aims: A resection method of Noninjecting Resection using Bipolar Soft coagulation mode (NIRBS) which has been reported to be effective and safe for colorectal lesions is adapted for SNADETs. In this study we evaluated its effectiveness, safety, and simplicity for SNADETs measuring ≤ 20 mm.
Results: This study included 13 patients with resected lesions with a mean size of 7.8 (range: 3-15) mm. The pathological distributions of the lesions were as follows: adenomas, 77% (n = 10) and benign and non-adenomatous lesions, 23% (n = 3). The en bloc and R0 resection rate was 100% (n = 13). The median procedure duration was 68 s (32-105). None of the patients presented with major AEs including bleeding and perforation.
Conclusions: Large studies such as prospective, randomized, and controlled trials should be conducted for the purpose of validating effectiveness, safety, and simplicity of the NIRBS for SNADETs measuring ≤ 20 mm suggested in this study.

Methods: This retrospective cohort study used data from the Swedish Cancer Registry, Swedish Cause of Death Registry, and the National Patient Registry to analyse demographic characteristics and outcomes of patients diagnosed with appendiceal adenocarcinoma or LAMN between 2005 and 2019.

Hemoptysis, defined as the expectoration of blood originating from the lower respiratory tract, is a clinical symptom with a wide differential diagnosis that ranges from benign to life-threatening causes. Common causes vary by geographic region and care setting, with respiratory infections, malignancy, bronchiectasis, and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease being predominant in resource-rich countries and tuberculosis remaining the leading cause in resource-limited areas. Though most cases are mild and self-limited, hemoptysis can be a life-threatening medical emergency; these cases are associated with a mortality exceeding 50%, primarily due to asphyxia.

The multifunctional systems presented here introduce an innovative and deeply thought-out approach to the more effective and safer use of temozolomide (TMZ) in treating glioma. The developed hydrogel-based flakes were designed to address the issues of local GBL therapy, bacterial neuroinfections, and the bleeding control needed during tumor resection. Background And Objectives: Explore whether community social capital measures (system of resources available to individuals through community engagement) are related to surgical outcomes among intracranial tumor patients.
Methods: Adults who underwent resection at a single medical center for intracranial tumor was identified and their zip codes were matched to three variables derived from the Social Capital Atlas: economic connectedness, volunteering rate, and civic organizations. The economic connectedness score quantifies the degree to which low-income and high-income community members are friends with each other, the volunteering rate is defined as the proportion of a given community engaged in community organizations and the civic organization score is defined as the number of local civic organizations within a given community.

Purpose: Resection of glioblastomas infiltrating the motor cortex and corticospinal tract (CST) is often linked to increased perioperative morbidity. Navigated transcranial magnetic stimulation (nTMS) motor mapping has been advocated to increase patient safety in these cases. The additional impact of patient frailty on overall outcome after resection of cases with increased risk for postoperative motor deficits as identified with nTMS needs to be investigated.
