Objectives: Proteasomes, multi-subunit proteases, are key actors of cellular protein catabolism and a number of regulatory processes. The detection of subtle proteasome functioning in tumors may contribute to our understanding of the mechanisms of cancer development. The current study aimed to identify the role of low molecular mass protein 2 (LMP2), a proteasome immune subunit, in the development of mouse colon 26 (C26) adenocarcinoma.

Background: Guidelines recommend leaving in situ rectosigmoid polyps diagnosed during colonoscopy that are 5 mm or smaller if the endoscopist optically predicts them to be non-neoplastic. However, no randomised controlled trial has been done to examine the efficacy and safety of this strategy.
Methods: This open-label, multicentre, non-inferiority, randomised controlled trial enrolled adults age 18 years or older undergoing colonoscopy for screening, surveillance, or clinical indications across four Italian centres.

Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), including Crohn's disease (CD) and Ulcerative Colitis (UC), is characterized by chronic inflammation of the gastrointestinal tract, and its long-standing course significantly elevates the risk of colorectal cancer (CRC), primarily arising from dysplastic lesions. While regular surveillance by colonoscopy is well established for UC patients, guidelines for CD remain uncertain. Computed Tomographic Colonography (CTC) offers a minimally invasive alternative for evaluating the colon, particularly in cases where colonoscopy is incomplete or contraindicated.

Extracellular polysaccharides (EPS) from Pediococcus pentosaceus were obtained, followed by investigation of their structural and functional properties. Current results indicated the polysaccharides belonged to glucomannans, which mainly consisted of mannose and glucose with a molecular weight of 2248.71 kDa.

Familial adenomatous polyposis (FAP) is an inherited condition that predisposes individuals to colorectal cancer without preventive treatment. Surgical management typically involves restorative proctocolectomy with an ileal pouch anal anastomosis or colectomy with ileorectal anastomosis. Complete removal of the large intestine and rectum with a permanent stoma may also be required in selected cases.
