Correlative light and electron microscopy (CLEM) greatly facilitate capturing the ultrastructure of spatially and/or temporally rare events. Here, we present a protocol for targeting regions of interests (ROIs) in tissue endothelial cells (ECs) using X-ray micro-computed tomography (μCT). We describe steps for ROI targeting guided by vasculature patterns and positions of EC nuclei visualized by light and X-ray microscopy. The protocol is applicable to thin or translucent tissues that contain defined landmarks visible in both light and X-ray microscopy. For complete details on the use and execution of this protocol, please refer to Reglero-Real et al..

The unparalleled loss-less electrical current conduction of high-temperature superconducting (HTS) materials encourages research on YBaCuO (YBCO) to unravel opportunities toward numerous applications. Nonetheless, production costs and throughput of the commercialized HTS Coated Conductors (CCs) are still limiting a worldwide spread. Transient liquid assisted growth (TLAG) is a non-equilibrium process displaying ultrafast growth rate which, when combined with chemical solution deposition (CSD), is emerging as a strong candidate to reduce the cost/performance ratio of YBCO superconductors.

This study comprehensively analyses two new ruthenium(III) complexes, [RuCl(Nic)][(CH)NH]DMF, 1, and [RuCl(3-HPA)][3-HHPA](EtOH), 2, (where Nic = nicotinic acid (vitamin B3), 3-HPA = anion of a 3-hydroxypicolinic acid), as potential antimicrobial agents, highlighting their physicochemical properties, nanoparticle formation, and cytotoxic activity. The complexes were fully characterised by a single crystal X-ray diffraction technique, Fourier-transform infrared, energy-dispersive X-ray, and electron paramagnetic resonance spectroscopies. The synthesis of micro- and nanoparticles (NPs) of these complexes was performed using the liquid anti-solvent crystallisation method.

The iron nickel magnesium tetra-oxide (FeNiMgO) nanocomposites (NCs) first reported in this article were synthesized using the sol-gel method. For investigation using powder X-ray diffraction (PXRD), the presence of a cubic structure is confirmed. In Raman spectroscopy, the vibrational modes are investigated.

A potential replacement that alleviates the shortcomings of the dominant light absorber materials used in solar photovoltaics has been synthesized, and its microstructural, electronic structure, and optical properties have been investigated. KCuS crystals were synthesized by the carbonate method. Transmission electron microscopy (TEM) established [010] as the growth direction of the needle-like monoclinic crystals.

In this study, the effects of operating temperature on pore-scale gas bubble transport in a carbon-based anode porous transport layer (PTL) of a polymer electrolyte membrane (PEM) electrolyzer is revealed using operando X-ray computed tomography (CT). Higher temperature operation (80 °C compared to 40 °C) led to a lower total gas bubble volume fraction in the PTL (0.25 to 0.
