Purpose: To evaluate the psychometric properties of a Fall Concerns Scale for people who use Wheelchairs and Scooters (FCS-WC/S).
Materials And Methods: Developed by fall prevention experts, FCS-WC/S underwent refinement through interdisciplinary reviews and focus groups with researchers, clinicians, and individuals who use WC/S full-time. The psychometric evaluation involved adults who used WC/S for ≥1 year and had ≥1 fall in the previous 3 years, recruited between April and September 2022.
Results: The FCS-WC/S evaluates fall concerns among people with various health conditions who use WC/S full-time across 33 daily activities. One hundred and twenty-four participants responded to the baseline survey. A subgroup of 63 people repeated the FCS-WC/S a week later. The FCS-WC/S demonstrated excellent internal and good test-retest reliability ( ≥ 0.90, ICC = 0.86-0.9), as well as concurrent validity (Spearman's rho = 0.72) with the Spinal Cord Injury Falls Concern Scale (SCI-FCS). It effectively differentiated fear of falling levels from an established measure (ORs 4.1, 25.8, 46.7). Factor and parallel analysis revealed three factors, two of which were retained for further analysis.
Conclusions: Preliminary findings support FCS-WC/S validity and reliability for assessing fall concerns among individuals with various conditions who use WC/S. Further scale construction analysis is recommended.

The ability to navigate through one's environment is crucial for maintaining independence in daily life and depends on complex cognitive and motor functions that are vulnerable to decline in persons with Multiple Sclerosis (MS). While previous research suggests a role for mobility in the physical act of navigation, it remains unclear to what extent mobility impairment and perceptions of mobility constraints may modify wayfinding and the recall of environment details in support of successful navigation. Therefore, this study examined the relations among clinical mobility function, concern about falling, and recall of environment details in a clinical sample of MS.

Using precision analytics approaches with population health data helps identify localized patterns of social determinants and comorbidities, supporting the design of tailored interventions. The University of Kentucky College of Public Health (UKCPH) and UK King's Daughters (UKKD) have partnered to create a Precision Public Health Alliance (PPHA) applying precision analytics to UKKD electronic health records (EHR) as well as secondary datasets to map social, demographic, and clinical comorbidity factors onto colorectal cancer (CRC) screening data in UKKD's rural service area (the northeastern Kentucky counties of Boyd, Carter, Greenup, and Lawrence and southeast Ohio county of Lawrence). In addition to UKKD and UKCPH clinicians and researchers, PPHA includes a community-based Action Team of local social services, behavioral health, and public health agencies and Cooperative Extension agents responsible for translating findings into quality improvement priorities.

Osteoporosis constitutes a significant global health concern, however the development of novel treatments is challenging due to the limited cost-effectiveness and ethical concerns inherent to placebo-controlled clinical trials. Computational approaches are emerging as alternatives for the development and assessment of biomedical interventions. The aim of this study was to evaluate the ability of an In Silico trial technology (BoneStrength) to predict hip fracture incidence by implementing a novel approach designed to reproduce the phenomenology of falls as reported in clinical data, and by testing its accuracy in three virtual cohorts characterised by different risk profiles.

Acute myeloid leukemia (AML) represents a genetically heterogeneous malignancy, with mutations in the nucleophosmin-1 (NPM1) gene identified as the most prevalent and clinically significant molecular biomarkers. These mutations play a crucial pivotal role in the realms of diagnosis, prognosis, and therapeutic decision-making. Although an ideal measurable residual disease (MRD) test has yet to be developed, there is increasing acknowledgment of the significance of advanced molecular methodologies for monitoring MRD in NPM1-mutated (NPM1) AML.
