Turbulent convection governs heat transport in both natural and industrial settings, yet optimizing it under extreme conditions remains a significant challenge. Traditional control strategies, such as predefined temperature modulation, struggle to achieve substantial enhancement. Here, we introduce a deep reinforcement learning (DRL) framework that autonomously discovers optimal control policies to maximize heat transfer in turbulent Rayleigh-Bénard convection.

Giant mobility of surface-trapped ionic charges following liquid tribocharging.

Proc Natl Acad Sci U S A

Soft Matter Sciences and Engineering, CNRS, École supérieure de Physique et de Chimie Industrielles de la Ville de Paris, Université Paris Sciences et Lettres, Sorbonne Université, Paris 75005, France.

The sliding motion of aqueous droplets on hydrophobic surfaces leads to charge separation at the trailing edge, with implications from triple-line friction to hydrovoltaic energy generation. Charges deposited on the solid surface have been attributed to ions or electrons ripped off from the liquid drop. However, the dynamics and exact physicochemical nature of these surface-trapped charges remains poorly explored.

Importance: Advances in diagnostics have enabled the detection of more gastrointestinal pathogens, but misuse of diagnostics can lead to inappropriate antibiotic use and excess financial burdens. Ensuring appropriate use of diagnostics is crucial for optimizing patient care and promoting stewardship of health care resources.

Objective: To elicit parents' and clinicians' perspectives on expectations for care of pediatric diarrhea with a focus on diagnostic testing and to evaluate the potential for an electronic clinical decision support tool (ECDST) to improve appropriate use of diagnostics.

Histological preparation paraffin embedding is the gold standard method for evaluating tissue structure and composition, whether it is originated from biopsy or engineered . Quite often, deformation and shrinkage occur during the histological preparation, which are difficult to predict and qualify. The present study investigates the morphometric changes in bioprinted hydrogels composed of alginate and gelatine, common tissue engineering materials, focusing on three morphologies: full slabs, porous slabs, and porous cubes.

Purpose: The purpose of this document is to review current methods for cervical ripening and to summarize the effectiveness of these approaches based on appropriately conducted outcomes-based research. This document focuses on cervical ripening in individuals with term, singleton, vertex pregnancies with membranes intact, because this is the population in whom most studies were conducted. For more information on recommended timing of delivery based on maternal, fetal, and obstetric conditions and on labor management, refer to: American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) Committee Opinion No.
