The widespread application of artificial intelligence (AI) technology has triggered a significant transformation in the economic structure and has brought profound changes to human society. As China promotes the digital transformation of industries, understanding how the investment in AI by small and micro enterprises (SMEs) affects labor demand, which is inextricably linked to "stable employment", becomes an important question. This paper uses special data from 127 SMEs in 14 provinces from 2016 to 2020 and employs a two-way fixed effects model to study the impact of AI inputs on enterprises' labor demand. The empirical results show that the impact of AI inputs on the labor demand of SMEs is not significant overall, but shows a significant negative effect in non-state-owned enterprises, private enterprises, and high-tech enterprises. There is a significant difference in the impact of AI inputs on the labor demand of different industries, with only the wholesale and retail industry demonstrating a significant positive impact. From the results of mechanism analysis, the substitution effect and creation effect of AI inputs on labor demand coexist, and in general, these two effects cancel each other out. However, the substitution effect dominates in some types of enterprises and industries. Finally, this paper discusses the government and enterprise coping strategies for the employment impact of AI applications based on empirical evidence and research results. This paper not only theoretically demonstrates that the impact of AI investment on firms' labor demand is uncertain, but also empirically demonstrates that Chinese firms' AI investment does not significantly affect firms' overall labor demand. This facilitates the government and enterprises to formulate strategies that can enhance the level of enterprise intelligence without impacting the labor market.

Exceptional rings (ERs) are high-dimensional non-Hermitian topologies formed by exceptional points, significantly enriching the topological properties of non-Hermitian systems. Because of the intricate topology and symmetry requirements, the realization of ERs generally demands complex structures and precise parameter tuning, resulting in relatively few experimental observations in high-dimensional periodic systems. Here, we show that even the simplest 1D non-Hermitian periodic systems can support multiple ERs, enabled by the system's multiple degrees of freedom which naturally accommodate diverse non-Hermitian perturbations.

With the increasing demand for wind energy in the electric power generation industry, optimizing robust and efficient control strategies is essential for a wind energy conversion system (WECS). In this regard, this study proposes a novel hybrid control strategy for wind power systems directly coupled to a permanent-magnet synchronous generator (PMSG). The contribution of this work is to propose a control strategy design based on a combination of the nonlinear Backstepping approach for system stabilization according to Lyapunov theory and the application of artificial neural network to maximize energy harvesting regardless of wind speed fluctuations.

Camouflaged Object Segmentation (COS) faces significant challenges due to the scarcity of annotated data, where meticulous pixel-level annotation is both labor-intensive and costly, primarily due to the intricate object-background boundaries. Addressing the core question, "Can COS be effectively achieved in a zero-shot manner without manual annotations for any camouflaged object?", we propose an affirmative solution. We analyze the learned attention patterns for camouflaged objects and introduce a robust zero-shot COS framework.

Objective: The incidence of total shoulder arthroplasty (TSA) in the United States continues to climb as an aging yet active population increases demand for the procedure. Due to promising clinical results out of Europe, improvement in prosthesis design, and wider acceptance of reverse total shoulder arthroplasty (rTSA), this study was designed to evaluate how rTSA and anatomical TSA (aTSA) utilization, patient selection, and length of stay have changed at a single institution.
Methods: This was a retrospective cohort study of patients from one hospital system between 2017 and 2023.
