The Penn Electrophysiology of Encoding and Retrieval Study (PEERS) aimed to characterize the behavioral and electrophysiological (EEG) correlates of memory encoding and retrieval in highly practiced individuals. Across five PEERS experiments, 300+ subjects contributed more than 7,000 memory testing sessions with recorded EEG data. Here we tell the story of PEERS: its genesis, evolution, major findings, and the lessons it taught us about taking a big scientific approach in studying memory and the human brain. Cross-modal hashing aims to leverage hashing functions to map multimodal data into a unified low-dimensional space, realizing efficient cross-modal retrieval. In particular, unsupervised cross-modal hashing methods attract significant attention for not needing external label information. However, in the field of unsupervised cross-modal hashing, there are several pressing issues to address: (1) how to facilitate semantic alignment between modalities, and (2) how to effectively capture the intrinsic relationships between data, thereby constructing a more reliable affinity matrix to assist in the learning of hash codes.

Mentalizing skills-the capacity to attribute mental states-play critical roles in word learning during typical language development. In autism, mentalizing difficulties may constrain word-learning pathways, limiting language-acquisition opportunities. We ask how autistic children encode and retrieve novel words and what drives individual differences.

Introduction: are commonly found in intramammary infections associated with bovine subclinical mastitis in dairy cattle, yet their genomic diversity and antimicrobial resistance dynamics remain poorly characterized, particularly in African settings.
Methods: This study presents a comparative genomic analysis of 17 isolates from South Africa, including five newly sequenced bovine mastitis strains and twelve porcine-derived genomes retrieved from GenBank. analysis using multilocus sequence typing (MLST), virulence genes, antibiotic resistance genes and plasmids replicon types were used to characterise these isolates.

Initial findings linking Virtual Reality (VR)-based encoding to increased recollection at retrieval remain inconclusive due to heterogeneous study designs and dependence on behavioral data. To clarify under which circumstances VR-based encoding affects or enhances episodic memory retrieval, the fundamental question remains whether the encoding modality, i.e.

Phonological alternations are common in speech, but the neurocognitive mechanisms for their encoding during word production remain unclear. Mandarin Tone 3 sandhi is an example of phonological alternation, whereby the Tone 3 (T3), a low-dipping tone, changes to a Tone 2 (T2)-like rising tone when followed by another T3. Previous research indicates that both the underlying tonal category and the surface tonal variant are activated during T3 sandhi word production, but the neural substrates of these sub-processes remain unclear.
