Aims: Cardiogenic shock remains a significant cause of mortality despite multiple advancements in medical interventions. Veno-arterial extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (VA-ECMO) provides crucial circulatory support but also increases left ventricular (LV) after-load, potentially worsening outcomes. Effective LV unloading strategies can enhance patient survival during VA-ECMO treatment.

Background And Aim: Hospital effluents are a major source of environmental contaminants, harboring pathogenic bacteria, toxic trace metals, and high organic loads. This study aimed to evaluate the bacteriological and physicochemical profiles of wastewater discharged from three coastal hospitals in Oran, Algeria, and to assess the associated public and livestock health risks under the One Health approach.
Materials And Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted from January 2023 to February 2024, involving monthly sampling at three hospitals and one drainage collector.

Neuromuscular diseases are often accompanied by various types of sleep-related breathing disorders, which can exacerbate the underlying condition and are associated with a poor prognosis. Early identification is essential, and interventions such as non-invasive ventilation, oxygen therapy, and respiratory rehabilitation should be initiated promptly to mitigate disease progression and improve outcomes. Nevertheless, the rates of missed and misdiagnosed cases remain common in clinical practice.

Understanding ion transport mechanisms in sodium ion-based polymer electrolytes is critical, considering the emergence of sodium ion electrolyte technologies as sustainable alternatives to lithium-based systems. In this paper, we employ all-atom molecular dynamics simulations to investigate the salt concentration () effects on ionic conductivity () mechanisms in sodium hexafluorophosphate (NaPF) in polyethylene oxide (PEO) electrolytes. Sodium ions exhibit ion solvation shell characteristics comparable to those of lithium-based polymer electrolytes, with similar anion coordination but more populated oxygen coordination in the polymer matrix.

Crush syndrome remains a life-threatening complication of traumatic injuries, especially in mass casualty and disaster scenarios. This systematic review evaluates the current clinical and mechanistic understanding of crush-related pathophysiology, anatomical impact, and renal complications, with a focus on therapeutic interventions. Studies were selected using the PICO framework and analyzed under PRISMA guidelines.
