This study investigates the corrosion inhibition potential of Polygonum cuspidatum root extract (PCRE) on mild steel in a 0.5 M HCl acidic environment. Herein, various techniques including electrochemical and gravimetric measurements were employed, along with scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and contact angle (CA) measurements for surface morphology analysis. The impedance study revealed a concentration-dependent enhancement in corrosion resistance, classifying PCRE as a mixed-type inhibitor (i.e., inhibits both anodic and cathodic reactions). The highest efficiency, 96.71% at 298 K, was observed at a 1000-ppm PCRE concentration. Langmuir model computations suggested chemisorption and physisorption of PCRE on the electrode substrate. Increased R (from 28.648 to 174.01 Ω) and R (185.74 Ω cm) at 1000 ppm demonstrated improved corrosion resistance. Additionally, SEM analysis displayed a uniform, protective surface, reducing metal degradation. Theoretical calculations highlighted strong interactions between PCRE and mild steel, with a low energy gap (ΔE), as follows: 1-O-methylemodin (2.267 eV) < emodin (2.288 eV) < emodin-1-O-glucoside (2.343 eV) < piceid (2.931 eV) < resveratrol (2.952 eV), confirming PCRE's excellent micro-level anti-corrosion capabilities. This eco-benign corrosion inhibitor offers sustainable, low-toxicity protection, cost-effectiveness, and versatile performance, surpassing commercial counterparts while aligning with sustainability goals.

Tires are complex polymeric materials composed of rubber elastomers (both natural and synthetic), fillers, steel wire, textiles, and a range of antioxidant and curing systems. These constituents are distributed differently among the various tire parts, which are classified based on their function and proximity to the rim. This study presents a rapid and sensitive approach for the characterization of tire components using mild thermal desorption/pyrolysis (TDPy) coupled to direct analysis in real-time mass spectrometry (DART-MS).

Corrosion of mild steel in marine environments poses a major challenge for industrial sustainability. This study aims to develop an eco-friendly corrosion protection approach by combining phenolic extracts (PE) from extremophile plants with Zn₂-Al-layered double hydroxides (LDH) to form hybrid inhibitors for S235JR steel in artificial seawater (3.5% NaCl).

In this study, we describe the synthesis and characterization of the mononuclear complexes [ )], [ ], and [ ], where = (2-((2-hydroxybenzylidene)-amino)-phenol). The structural analysis of these complexes was carried out utilizing mass spectrometry, H NMR, C NMR, P NMR, UV-visible, and FT-IR. All three complexes were investigated as corrosion inhibitors for mild steel in 1 M HCl.

Purpose: To investigate alteration of brain amide proton transfer weighted (APTw) signals in children with obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) and to assess the association of APTw signals in different brain regions with cognitive impairment.
Methods: This prospective study was conducted from September 2021 to December 2023. Forty-six children with mild to severe OSA and 20 non-OSA volunteers with matched age and gender underwent a whole brain APTw imaging scan.

This study aimed to evaluate the analgesic effects of low-level laser therapy (LLLT) and paracetamol-caffeine in controlling orthodontic pain induced during different stages of leveling and alignment orthodontic treatment. Fifty-four patients with mild to moderate crowded arches were enrolled. Elastomeric separators were placed, followed by fixed appliance bonding one week later.
