Carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA) is a commonly used tumor marker, primarily for the surveillance of colorectal and other gastrointestinal malignancies. However, its diagnostic specificity is limited, as CEA levels may be elevated in several benign conditions. This case report aims to highlight the potential diagnostic confusion and psychological distress caused by incidental CEA elevation in asymptomatic individuals when tested outside of an appropriate clinical context.

Paraovarian cysts (PCs) are uncommon adnexal lesions that often present with nonspecific or absent symptoms, making clinical diagnosis challenging. When they exceed 150 mm in size, they are referred to as giant paraovarian cysts, a rare condition. This article presents the case of an asymptomatic 22-year-old woman with a large pelvic mass, incidentally discovered during physical examination by her family doctor.

Biological and physical retrospective dosimetry for ionizing radiation exposure is a rapidly growing field, and several methods for performing biological and physical retrospective dosimetry have been developed to provide absorbed dose estimates for individuals after occupational, accidental, intentional, and incidental exposures to ionizing radiation. In large-scale radiological/nuclear incidents, multiple retrospective dosimetry laboratories from several countries may be involved in providing timely dose estimates for effective medical management of several thousand exposed individuals. In such scenarios, the harmonization of methods among participating laboratories is crucial for consistency in data analysis, dose estimation, and medical decision-making.

Background: Small (≤ 3 cm) hyperechoic renal masses are challenging to characterize due to overlapping features between angiomyolipomas (AMLs) and renal cell carcinomas (RCCs). Contrast-enhanced ultrasound (CEUS) offers a noninvasive alternative, particularly when CT or MRI are inconclusive or contraindicated. This study assessed CEUS diagnostic accuracy in differentiating RCC from AML and identified predictive enhancement patterns.
