We explore formal similarities and mathematical transformation formulas between general trace-form entropies and the Gini index, originally used in quantifying income and wealth inequalities. We utilize the notion of gintropy introduced in our earlier works as a certain property of the Lorenz curve drawn in the map of the tail-integrated cumulative population and wealth fractions. In particular, we rediscover Tsallis' -entropy formula related to the Pareto distribution. As a novel result, we express the traditional entropy in terms of gintropy and reconstruct further non-additive formulas. A dynamical model calculation of the evolution of Gini index is also presented.

Globally, increasing coastal erosion-including background erosion due to rising sea levels-has become a serious environmental concern. One common mitigation strategy is the artificial supply of sand to the coast through marine sand mining (MSM). However, to ensure its effectiveness, there is an urgent need for corresponding erosion assessments.

Patients and clinicians often approach cancer information through different hierarchies. In clinic, I watched a family latch onto a single reassuring label in their patient's TNM staging while skimming past qualifiers that carried greater implications for risk and management. This piece reflects on how such imbalances arise, and what trainees can do in the moment to keep explanations aligned with clinical meaning.

Music is an elusive phenomenon with sounds that disappear while sounding. This challenges the description of the music and its processing by the listener or performer. A possible answer to this problem lies in the definition of music as flowing sound energy that continuously modifies its substance and shape.

Introduction: Anti-amyloid monoclonal antibodies (mAbs) slow cognitive decline in Alzheimer's disease but may cause amyloid-related imaging abnormalities (ARIA), which can rarely be disabling or fatal. This qualitative study investigates how clinicians communicate the benefits and risks of mAbs to patients and caregivers.
Methods: Semi-structured interviews with clinicians who prescribe mAbs at seven academic medical centers.

To study the effects of internal and marginal polymerization shrinkage stress and distribution in different resin composite class III dental restorations in relation to the restorative technique using numerical finite element analysis (FEA). A 3D model of a human hemi-maxilla with a sound maxillary central incisor were created. Four class III distal cavities were shaped and differently restored.
