Background: Transaxillary transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAx-TAVI) is the most used alternative access when severe iliofemoral disease renders transfemoral access infeasible. Compared to surgical transaxillary access, a true percutaneous approach using vascular closure devices (VCD) has advantages but can be challenging. Herein, we describe the impact of the "unilateral, suture-mediated, dry-closure technique" on vascular safety and efficacy in patients undergoing true percutaneous TAx-TAVI.

Background: The MANTA vascular closure device (VCD) represents a novel approach to achieving hemostasis after large-bore femoral access procedures. Numerous clinical studies have evaluated the efficacy of the MANTA device across a range of patient populations undergoing different procedures. However, there is still a paucity of data available concerning the use of MANTA devices in aiding the decannulation of venoarterial extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (VA-ECMO).

Background: Percutaneous suture-based arterial access site closure (ProGlide) is commonly applied in patients undergoing transfemoral transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI). However, the failure of a suture-based vascular closure device (VCD) may require additional treatment.
Aims: We aimed to evaluate the efficacy and safety of bailout access site closure using a large-bore plug-based device (MANTA) in patients with failed suture-based closure during transfemoral TAVI.

Background/purpose: The MANTA is a dedicated plug-based large-bore vascular closure device (VCD) providing safe hemostasis in most patients, but data on the clinical impact and mechanisms of MANTA related complications are limited. This study sought to determine the frequency, impact and predictors of MANTA-related access complications.
Methods/materials: This patient-level meta-analysis included data from 2 medical device approval studies and 1 post-approval registry.
