Background: Acute viral respiratory infections (AVRIs) rank among the most common causes of hospitalisation worldwide, imposing significant healthcare burdens and driving the development of pharmacological treatments. However, inconsistent outcome reporting across clinical trials limits evidence synthesis and its translation into clinical practice. A core outcome set (COS) for pharmacological treatments in hospitalised adults with AVRIs is essential to standardise trial outcomes and improve research comparability.

A comprehensive understanding of the factors influencing the epidemiological dynamics of COVID-19 across the pandemic waves-particularly in terms of disease severity and mortality-is critical for optimizing healthcare services and prioritizing high-risk populations. Here we aim to analyze the factors associated with short-term and prolonged hospitalization for COVID-19 during the first three pandemic waves. We conducted a retrospective observational study using data from individuals reported in the e-SUS-VS system who were hospitalized for COVID-19 in a state in a southeast state of Brazil.

Hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection is a global health challenge, with the World Health Organization (WHO) targeting its elimination by 2030. Jordan lacks sufficient data on HBV epidemiology, including prevalence, incidence and clearance. This study addresses these gaps through a retrospective analysis of HBV testing data from 40,268 individuals collected at Biolab Diagnostic Laboratories (2010-2024).

Purpose: To define the genetic architecture of foveal morphology and explore its relevance to foveal hypoplasia (FH), a hallmark of developmental macular disorders.

Methods: We applied deep-learning algorithms to quantify foveal pit depth from central optical coherence tomography (OCT) B-scans in 61,269 UK Biobank participants. A genome-wide association study (GWAS) was conducted using REGENIE, adjusting for age, sex, height, and ancestry.
