Community-acquired pneumonia (CAP) is a significant cause of morbidity and mortality in adults. National guidelines by the British Thoracic Society (BTS) and the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) recommend follow-up chest imaging within six weeks for adults diagnosed with CAP to exclude underlying malignancy. Timely follow-up of radiological abnormalities in CAP is crucial, as infectious infiltrates can obscure early signs of malignancy.

Objective: A quality improvement project (QIP) was implemented in 2021 at Al Qassimi Hospital in Sharjah, United Arab Emirates, to decrease the incidence of hospital-acquired pressure injuries (HAPIs).
Methods: A FOCUS PDCA (Find, Organize, Clarify, Understand, Select, Plan, Do, Check, and Act) methodology was used to reduce the HAPI rate, understand the source of variation, and select improvement measures. A protocol for PI assessment and prevention was developed and implemented.

Disorganization in inpatient referral management can be due to multiple reasons and causes delays in patient care. We assessed the use of a hospital-approved mobile app called Alertive for referral management. The use of the app improved the referral handling process and led to the formulation of a structured rota for the first time, representing a sustainable change.

Purpose: Diabetes as common comorbidity is associated with an impaired outcome for inpatients. Inadequate transition of dysglycemia specific information from hospital to outpatient setting may disrupt continuity of care and contribute to impaired patient outcome. We tested whether a digitalized diabetes management improves awareness of in-hospital health care professionals for diabetes as comorbidity.
