To investigate the distribution and characteristics of lymphatic vessels within the central nervous system, we focus on the meninges of the spinal cord and brain parenchyma in mice. Additionally, we aim to provide experimental methods for obtaining optimal imaging and clear structures of lymphatic vessels, while optimizing the perfusion parameters to improve histomorphological quality. Male C57BL/6J mice were randomly divided into four groups, with each group assigned a specific perfusion parameter based on perfusion volumes and temperatures. Immunofluorescence staining of lymphatics and blood vessels was performed on both meningeal and the brain tissue samples. Statistical analysis was performed using one-way analysis of variance to compare the groups, and a significant level of P < 0.05 was considered statistically significant. Our study reports the presence of lymphatic vessels in the meninges of the spinal cord and brain parenchyma in mice. We highlight the crucial role of high perfusion volume of paraformaldehyde with low temperature in fixation for achieving optimal results. We provide experimental methods for obtaining optimal imaging and clear structures of lymphatic vessels in the meninges of the spinal cord and brain parenchyma in mice, which contribute to our understanding of the distribution and characteristics of lymphatic vessels within the central nervous system. Further research is warranted to explore the functional implications of these lymphatic vessels and their potential therapeutic significance in neurodegenerative and neuroinflammatory diseases.

The meninges, consisting of the dura, arachnoid and pia mater that surround the brain and spinal cord, have been recognized from the earliest anatomical studies. First identified in 1787, lymphatic vessels in the dura are now receiving greater attention as their contribution to cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) clearance in diverse neurological conditions is being investigated. New methods have increased the understanding of dural lymphatics, but much is still being learned about their heterogeneity, intracranial and extracranial connections, and factors that govern their functions and maintenance.

The patient, with a 28-year history of untreated hepatitis B, presented with dyspnea and cough after traveling to a high-altitude area. The effectiveness of antitumor immunotherapy is limited to immune cell infiltration into solid tumors, primarily via T-cell migration through tumor blood vessels. This study introduces a multifunctional nitric oxide (NO)-driven hollow gold Janus nanomotor (HAM) designed to promote tumor blood vessel normalization and increase T-cell infiltration, thereby enhancing the immune response against tumors. It is revealed that self-generated NO facilitates the penetration of HAM into tumors and increases pericyte coverage of blood vessels, thereby enhancing intratumoral T-cell infiltration.

Genital lymphedema presents significant challenges in surgical management, with limited effective interventions. This case report explores the use of contrast-enhanced ultrasound (CEUS) with microbubble injection as an alternative adjunct technique for lymphatic mapping in lymphaticovenous anastomosis (LVA) surgery for genital lymphedema. A retrospective chart review approved by our institutional review board was performed for patients with genital lymphedema undergoing LVA surgery between 2020 and 2024.
