Objective: Pediatric pulmonary vein stenosis (PVS) is associated with substantial morbidity and mortality for the subset of patients with recurrent or progressive disease. The molecular mechanisms underlying the development and trajectory of PVS remain unclear. This study characterizes the transcriptome of clinical and phenotypic subtypes of PVS.

Recalcitrant palmar common warts pose a considerable challenge in dermatology due to their frequent persistence despite various treatment attempts. The thick stratum corneum of the palms and the constant pressure and friction in this location contribute to their resistance to therapy and a high rate of recurrence. We report the case of a 33-year-old male with a 26-month history of a progressively enlarging palmar wart refractory to extensive conventional therapies, including 18 intermittent sessions of liquid nitrogen cryotherapy administered over the course of his 26-month history, two electrofulguration sessions, and various topical agents.

Background: Managing stage IV thymoma with pleural spread or recurrence remains a complex clinical challenge. While complete resection is considered essential for achieving long-term survival, its feasibility and outcomes vary. Inspired by surgical strategies used in malignant pleural mesothelioma, we applied a multimodal approach combining extensive thymectomy, cytoreductive lung-preserving pleurectomy/decortication, and intraoperative photodynamic therapy (PDT) to enhance local control and survival outcomes.

Bacterial persisters are a subpopulation of cells that exhibit a transient non-susceptible phenotype in the presence of bactericidal antibiotic concentrations. This phenotype can lead to the survival and regrowth of bacteria after treatment, resulting in relapse of infections. It is also a contributing factor to antibacterial resistance.

encodes NADH: ubiquinone oxidoreductase core subunit V1, a key component of mitochondrial Complex 1. Biallelic pathogenic variants in this gene produce a broad and variable phenotypic spectrum in affected individuals, including ophthalmoplegia, developmental delays, brain imaging abnormalities, and recurrent episodes of emesis and lactic acidemia. We report female siblings compound heterozygous for two missense variants (Arg40Gln, Val245Met) in with unusual presentations of this condition.
