The increasing popularity of electronic cigarettes (e-cigarettes) as an alternative to conventional tobacco products has raised concerns regarding their potential adverse effects. The cardiovascular system undergoes intricate processes forming the heart and blood vessels during fetal development. However, the precise impact of e-cigarette smoke and aerosols on these delicate developmental processes remains elusive. Previous studies have revealed changes in gene expression patterns, disruptions in cellular signaling pathways, and increased oxidative stress resulting from e-cigarette exposure. These findings indicate the potential for e-cigarettes to cause developmental and cardiovascular harm. This comprehensive review article discusses various aspects of electronic cigarette use, emphasizing the relevance of cardiovascular studies in Zebrafish for understanding the risks to human health. It also highlights novel experimental approaches and technologies while addressing their inherent challenges and limitations.

The cardiovascular continuum is the developmental process of cardiovascular diseases (CVDs) leading to heart failure (HF) and sudden cardiac death. Beta-blockers (BBs) are at the forefront of managing conditions along this continuum, ranging from cardiovascular (CV) risk factors to heart failure. In particular, bisoprolol proved to be a highly cardio-selective BB with a favourable pharmacokinetic profile, demonstrating long-term safety, good tolerability, and proven efficacy in reducing cardiac events, including arrhythmias and mortality in patients with heart failure with reduced ejection fraction (HFrEF).

The meninges, consisting of the dura, arachnoid and pia mater that surround the brain and spinal cord, have been recognized from the earliest anatomical studies. First identified in 1787, lymphatic vessels in the dura are now receiving greater attention as their contribution to cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) clearance in diverse neurological conditions is being investigated. New methods have increased the understanding of dural lymphatics, but much is still being learned about their heterogeneity, intracranial and extracranial connections, and factors that govern their functions and maintenance.

SHROOM3 is an actin binding protein, best characterized as being essential for neural tube closure in vertebrates.
