Article Abstract

Two pseudopolymorphic 1D coordination polymers of the formulas [Cd(3,3'-pytz)(CHOH)(ClO)] () and [Cd(3,3'-pytz)(CHCN)(ClO)] () have been prepared using the electron-deficient 3,6-bis(pyridin-3-yl)-1,2,4,5-tetrazine (3,3'-pytz) ligand and cadmium perchlorate in the chloroform/methanol and chloroform/acetonitrile solvent system, respectively. It was observed that compounds and experienced one-step (CP → CP) single-crystal-to-powder structural transformation to the pure water-coordinated compound [Cd(3,3'-pytz)(HO)(ClO)] () by absorbing water vapor from air (solid-gas phase transformation). Interestingly, compounds , , and undergo a different transformation path and show an in situ unique three-step (CP → CP → Ligand → CP) single-crystal-to-single-crystal (SCSC) structural transformation process through soaking in deionized water (solid-liquid phase transformation). In this fascinating transformation, we report for the first time the direct conversion of a ligand into a coordination polymer by a rare core-shell pathway in a solid-liquid phase transformation. In this process, we obtained compound {[Cd(3,3'-pytz)(HO)](3,3'-pytz)(ClO)(HO)} () (single-crystal = , crystal = , or microcrystal = ) as mixed compounds of core-shell and or core-shell and for compounds ( and ) and , respectively.

Large interstitial telomeric regions are considered remnants and markers of chromosomal rearrangements or a result of several suggested molecular mechanisms of telomere repeats accumulation. More rare are cases when large interstitial repeats are found not close to, but at a distance from the centromere. However, synapsis, recombination, and effects on chromatin near these regions during meiotic prophase I have not been sufficiently studied.

Structural biology is fundamental to understanding the molecular basis of biological processes. While machine learning-based protein structure prediction has advanced considerably, experimentally determined structures remain indispensable for guiding structure-function analyses and for improving predictive modeling. However, experimental studies of protein complexes continue to pose challenges, particularly due to the necessity of high protein concentrations and purity for downstream analyses such as cryogenic electron microscopy.

Between the third and sixth centuries AD (Anno Domini), the Xianbei emerged as a dominant nomadic power in the Eastern Eurasian Steppe, distinguished by their exceptional equestrian culture and the pivotal role of cavalry in warfare. Despite their historical significance, detailed knowledge of their cavalry's weaponry and equipment-particularly armour-remains fragmentary. As a critical element of military technology, armour offers valuable insights into ancient combat strategies and cultural practices.

This study explores highly active nitride-based g-CN/CuO photocatalysts for CO photoconversion by synthesizing them through high-pressure torsion (HPT) straining. Data indicate that increasing the applied strain under high pressure promotes vacancy formation and improves the electronic interaction at the g-CN/CuO interphases, enabling superior charge separation and extended light absorption. The generation of dual vacancies of oxygen and nitrogen is verified by electron paramagnetic resonance and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopic methods, and the generation of a type-II heterojunction is confirmed by band structure analysis.

Whole-process biomimetic synthesis of melanin-like amino acid surfactants by 2-iodoxybenzoic acid mediated regioselective oxidation of pterostilbene.

Amino acid surfactants have garnered increasing attention as green and safe alternatives. Bioinspired by the melanogenesis pathway, this study developed a novel melanin-like amino acid surfactant with a melanin mimetic structure by conjugating glycine to o-quinone. Pterostilbene, a versatile natural monophenol, was oxidized to form o-quinone crystals by 2-iodoxybenzoic acid in a manner analogous to tyrosinase.
