This study aimed to elucidate the grief experiences of Brazilian COVID-19 bereaved adults by exploring both helpful and unhelpful experiencesSemi-structured interviews were conducted with 10 participants, and the data were analyzed using Thematic Analysis. Four themes emerged: (1) healthcare experiences, (2) circumstances of death, (3) the grief experience, and (4) dissatisfaction with COVID-19 crisis management. The themes revealed that the quality of hospital care, including both positive and negative interactions with healthcare professionals, shaped perceptions of death.

Elisabeth S. Vrba (1942-2025) was an important figure in paleobiology and evolutionary theory, leaving an indelible mark on macroevolutionary research. Vrba's collaboration with Stephen Jay Gould led to the introduction of the term "exaptation," refining how evolutionary biologists distinguish between traits originally selected for one function and those later co-opted for another; Gould and Vrba also clarified conceptual issues surrounding species sorting and selection, although they would later disagree on the meanings of species selection.

Decisions about antithrombotic therapy in cancer patients at the end of life can be challenging. This cohort study examined prescribing behaviour and outcomes relating to antithrombotic therapy in this patient group, finding that deprescribing was uncommon. Greater awareness of this neglected but high-risk aspect of patient care is required along with interventions to enable shared decision-making in this setting.
