Over the past few decades, the scientific perspective on gut microbiota has undergone a profound transformation, particularly with the emergence and advancement of microbiome research. Next-generation sequencing technologies have emerged as a foundational tool in microbiome research, facilitating comprehensive characterization of microbial communities across diverse sample types and ecological niches. Significant alterations in gut microbiota composition have been observed in disease states compared to healthy individuals, suggesting a direct association between gut dysbiosis and host health status.

Theoretical and empirical contributions to research on evaluation have advanced our understanding of how values influence evaluation practice. Yet rather than understand how values shape evaluation and its use, research on the evaluation of widening participation (WP) programmes delivered by English higher education (HE) providers has focused on methodological deficits. Rather, this study explores the complexity of how national policy, organisational imperatives and the individual values of staff responsible for WP within HE providers influence how evaluation is practised and used to inform decision-making.

Plausibility seems to play a key role in how well people remember the veracity of information. In a study by Vorms and colleagues (2022), an interaction pattern between statement plausibility and veracity feedback on memory performance appeared: Plausible statements were significantly more often correctly identified as true than correctly identified as false; for implausible statements, the descriptive trend was reversed. Given the importance of accurate memory for truth and falsity in real-world settings, it is crucial to understand the cognitive processes underlying this plausibility effect.

The conventional "one-size-fits-all" approach to treating and managing type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) has proven challenging. T2DM is a complex, heterogeneous disease and frequently coexists with other conditions like hypertension, obesity, and dyslipidemia, further complicating treatment decisions and outcomes. While advances in diabetes medications have been made, traditional treatment algorithms often focus on broad glycemic targets, neglecting the diverse needs of patients with different risk profiles associated with ethnicity, comorbidities, and preferences.
