Invited for the cover of this issue are the groups of M. Haas, G. Gescheidt and H. Grützmacher from the Graz University of Technology and the ETH Zürich. The image depicts a phosphorus mine, where the workers are acid chlorides using their shovels and red phosphorus to provide the chemicals necessary to produce novel reagents. In this study, we investigated the influence of ultrasonic frequency during ultrasound-assisted chemical bath deposition (UCBD) on the surface morphology and electrochemical performance of CoO:MnO@CoMnO composite flexible electrodes for supercapacitor applications. By systematically varying the ultrasonic frequency (1.0-2.

Sodium (Na) metal batteries (SMBs) are regarded as some of the most promising next-generation energy storage systems due to their high energy density. However, their practical application is severely hindered by interfacial instabilities at both the anode and cathode, which result in rapid capacity degradation during cycling. Here, we proposed a bidirectional interfacial regulation strategy that simultaneously stabilizes both electrode interfaces.

The development of solid-state lithium metal batteries (SSLBs) faces challenges like high interfacial resistance, volume fluctuations, and lithium dendrite growth. This work employs a template method to in situ construct a three-dimensional (3D) metallic nanonetwork with mixed ionic/electronic conductivity (MIEC) on Ta-doped LLZTO solid electrolyte. This structure not only remains stably anchored at the LLZTO interface but also exhibits excellent electronic conductivity, enabling a more uniform electron distribution across the heterogeneous interface.

Background: Protein expression asymmetry between brain hemispheres is hypothesized to influence functional connectivity, yet its role in language-related networks remains poorly understood. Additionally, how such molecular differences relate to brain reorganization in glioma requires further exploration.
Methods: We performed label-free tandem mass spectrometry on 13 left-hemispheric language-related Brodmann areas (BAs) and their right-hemispheric counterparts from 10 donor brains, identifying protein signatures across 6 language-related functional modules.

A hierarchical hybrid material (MnO@COP) with dual charge storage capabilities was created by synthesizing a triazine-based covalent organic polymer (COP) that is rich in nitrogen functionalities and integrating it with MnO nanoparticles. Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS), Brunauer-Emmett-Teller (BET) studies, and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) demonstrated a distinct architecture: MnO nanoparticles were uniformly embedded in a stable, porous COP matrix. MnO loading caused a modest decrease in surface area, but the composite still had the mesoporosity needed for quick ion diffusion.
