Article Abstract

The multicomponent injection molding of liquid silicone rubbers (LSR) with thermoplastics, such as polybutylene terephthalate (PBT) or polyamide (PA), is a state-of-the-art technique and is used in the manufacturing process for many components in the automotive industry and in the field of sanitary engineering. Standard thermoplastics, such as acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (ABS), cannot be bonded with silicone rubbers in injection molding because of their low heat deflection temperature. In this study, we investigated ABS grades approved for medical applications to show how dynamic mold heating and various pretreatment methods for thermoplastic surfaces can be used to produce ABS-LSR test specimens. In addition, such components' sterilization effect on the adhesive bond will be shown.

Terminalia arjuna, an important medicinal plant in traditional Indian systems, has been extensively studied for its cardioprotective bark. However, limited attention has been given to its fruit, which contains several biologically active phytochemicals with potential antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and immunomodulatory properties. This study aimed to isolate and partially purify phytoactive compounds from the fruit of T.

Vitamin D is critically important for sustainable human health, and the rising prevalence of deficiency-related diseases has increased interest in natural sources. This study explores the potential of epiphytic lichen-forming fungi, known for their unique metabolites, as a novel biosource of vitamin D for pharmaceutical and nutraceutical applications. Fourteen epiphytic lichen species were collected using a stratified sampling method from four mountainous forests in the Marmara Region of Türkiye.

Cladorrhinum, a genus of soil fungi belonging to the Podosporaceae family within the Sordariales order of the Ascomycota phylum, comprises several species with diverse physiological capabilities. While there are existing data on the cellulolytic activity of Cladorrhinum bulbillosum and Cladorrhinum foecundissimum, no reports are available on the potential of other species in this genus. In this study, different strains of Cladorrhinum were evaluated for carboxymethyl cellulase (CMCase) activity on solid medium, and the strains exhibiting the highest activity levels were selected.

Fungal pathogens pose a growing threat to global health, necessitating rapid and accurate identification methods. Here, liquid atmospheric pressure matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionisation (LAP-MALDI) mass spectrometry (MS) is applied to fast lipid and protein profiling of Candida albicans and Saccharomyces cerevisiae from cultured colonies. Species-specific lipid profiles were observed in the m/z 600-1100 range, dominated by phospholipids as confirmed by tandem mass spectrometry (MS/MS).
