Cadmium (Cd) is a pervasive, toxic environmental pollutant that preferentially accumulates in the tubular epithelium of the kidney. Current evidence suggests that the cumulative burden of Cd here leads to the progressive loss of the glomerular filtration rate (GFR). In this study, we have quantified changes in estimated GFR (eGFR) and albumin excretion (E) according to the levels of blood Cd ([Cd]) and excretion of Cd (E) after adjustment for confounders. E and E were normalized to creatinine clearance (C) as E/C and E/C. Among 482 residents of Cd-polluted and non-polluted regions of Thailand, 8.1% had low eGFR and 16.9% had albuminuria (E/C) × 100 ≥ 20 mg/L filtrate. In the low Cd burden group, (E/C) × 100 < 1.44 µg/L filtrate, eGFR did not correlate with E/C (β = 0.007) while an inverse association with E/C was found in the medium (β = -0.230) and high burden groups (β = -0.349). Prevalence odds ratios (POR) for low eGFR were increased in the medium (POR 8.26) and high Cd burden groups (POR 3.64). Also, eGFR explained a significant proportion of E/C variation among those with middle (η 0.093) and high [Cd] tertiles (η 0.132) but did not with low tertiles (η 0.001). With an adjustment of eGFR, age and BMI, the POR values for albuminuria were increased in the middle (POR 2.36) and high [Cd] tertiles (POR 2.74) and those with diabetes (POR 6.02) and hypertension (2.05). These data indicate that (E/C) × 100 of 1.44 µg/L filtrate (0.01-0.02 µg/g creatinine) may serve as a Cd threshold level based on which protective exposure guidelines should be formulated.

IO-202 is a humanized immunoglobulin G1 monoclonal antibody with high affinity and specificity for leukocyte immunoglobulin-like receptor B4 (LILRB4; ILT3), which is predominantly expressed in monocytes and monocytic blasts. IO-202 induces antibody-dependent cellular cytotoxicity and antibody-dependent cellular phagocytosis in vitro and in patients with leukemia. Herein, we present the phase 1a dose escalation data of IO-202 as monotherapy and in combination with azacitidine (AZA) in patients with relapsed/refractory (R/R) acute myeloid leukemia (AML) and R/R chronic myelomonocytic leukemia (CMML), and the phase 1b dose expansion data of IO-202 combined with AZA for the treatment of hypomethylating agent (HMA)-naïve CMML.

Objective: To characterize multinational trends and patterns of opioid analgesic prescribing by sex and age.
Design, Setting, And Participants: We studied opioid analgesic prescribing from 2001 to 2019 with common protocol using population-based databases from eighteen countries and one special administrative region.
Main Outcome Measures: We measured opioid prescribing by geographical region, sex and age, estimating annual prevalent, incident, and nonincident opioid prescribing per 100 population with a 95% confidence interval (CI) and meta-analyzed the multinational and regional opioid prescribing with a random-effects model.

Cured and heated sausage model systems with N isotope-labeled nitrite were analyzed with headspace GC-MS, GC-IRMS and EA-IRMS. Nitrous oxide (NO) was quantified for the first time under food-relevant conditions in the gas phase. After heating at 100 °C for 90 min, simulating the conditions of full preserves, almost 20 % of the ingoing nitrite was released as NO, with the proportion increasing to up to 30 % with the addition of ascorbic acid (AS).
