While a substantial amount of evidence exists on factors associated with positive health technology assessment (HTA) outcomes, the evidence on the same regarding rejections is scarce. Using a proprietary dataset of HTA outcomes in seven Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) countries, we empirically examine the factors associated with HTA rejections and study the magnitude of inter-agency differences in technology appraisals. Data were extracted from HTA reports between 2009 and 2020.

Agriculture is extremely vulnerable to climate change and crop production is severely hampered by climate extremes. Not only does it cost growers over US$170Bln in lost production, but it also has major implications for global food security. In this study, we argue that, under current climate scenarios, agriculture in the 21 century will become saline, severely limiting (or even making impossible) the use of traditional cereal crops for human caloric intake.

A new screening tool for early recognition of ATTRv polyneuropathy in clinical practice: AmyloScan.

J Neurol

September 2025

Division of Neurological Pain Research and Therapy, Department of Neurology, University Hospital Schleswig-Holstein, Campus Kiel, Arnold-Heller-Str. 3, Haus D, 24105, Kiel, Germany.

Hereditary transthyretin (ATTRv) amyloidosis is a progressive multisystem disorder, mainly characterized by cardiac dysfunction and polyneuropathy. Due to its rarity and heterogeneous presentation, diagnosis is often delayed, which has a direct impact on the initiation of treatment and, therefore, span and quality of life. To facilitate early disease recognition, we aimed to develop and validate a new screening tool for early identification of ATTRv amyloidosis with polyneuropathy (AmyloScan).
