A general and concise synthetic pathway for the preparation of four different 5,8'-coupled naphthylisoquinoline alkaloids, employing a specially developed nickel/N,N-ligand-catalyzed atroposelective Negishi coupling is reported. In the first reported direct atroposelective coupling of the fully substituted precursors, the naturally occurring cross-coupled products were generally obtained directly in reasonable yields and high enantiomeric purities. For the synthesis of the cross-coupling precursors, we employed a modification of Bringmann's known approach to the dihydroisoquinoline compounds and a newly developed route for the naphthalene building blocks. For the latter 1,8-dioxynaphthalene precursors, our strategy utilized Hartwig's borylation/methylation approach and included the efficient installation of orthogonal protecting groups.

Virtual laboratories provide a risk-free environment for students to conduct experiments, particularly those involving hazardous materials or complex procedures. Previous studies have shown that gamified elements and interactive tools enhance the interest of students and promote active participation. In the case of Immunology in the veterinary degree, our prior observations indicate that veterinary students experience learning difficulties with topics related to molecules and effector functions of the immune system.

Background: Carbonate esters are polar aprotic solvents that can be used to replace polar solvents: methanol, acetonitrile, or even apolar solvents in the mobile phases for liquid chromatography. Dimethyl, diethyl, and propylene carbonates (DMC, DEC, and PC) are not fully soluble in water.
Results: Twelve volume phase diagrams of water, the three carbonates, and methanol, ethanol, propanol, and acetonitrile were determined.

Ultrasonication (US) pretreatment (10 and 20 min) before octenyl succinic anhydride (OSA, 3 %) esterification significantly increased the degree of substitution (DS) in proso millet starch, increasing it from 0.0078 to 0.0115.

Background: Telehealth use, including video visits and secure messages, expanded significantly in Veterans Health Administration (VHA) primary care during the COVID-19 pandemic. However, primary care provider (PCP) burnout also increased during this period. Each modality may have affected primary care workloads differently (either by substituting for or complementing in-person visits) and thereby had varying effects on PCP burnout.

Dinuclear M(I)-M(I) complexes (M = Ni, Pd) may serve as stable reservoir forms for highly reactive mononuclear metalloradicals, which are of interest as potential catalytic species. However, their dissociation dynamics as well as the factors governing monomer stabilization remain incompletely understood. This study investigates the influence of steric bulk and residual ligand flexibility within a PNP pincer framework on the homolytic dissociation behavior of unsupported Ni(I)-Ni(I) and Pd(I)-Pd(I) dimers.
