Four species of the genus can be found in Brazil. is a species endemic to India and Brazil. In this paper, we collected six specimens of for evaluation of their volatile chemical profiles. For this, the essential oils of these specimens were extracted using hydrodistillation from plant samples collected in the state of Pará, Brazil, belonging to the Amazon region in the north of the country. Substance compounds were identified with GC/MS. The most abundant constituent identified in the rhizome and root oils was 1,8-cineole (rhizome: 35.0-66.1%; root: 19.6-20.8%). Leaf blade oil was rich in β-pinene (31.6%) and (E)-caryophyllene (31.6%). The results from this paper allow for greater knowledge about the volatile chemical profile of specimens, in addition to disseminating knowledge about the volatile compounds present in plant species in the Amazon region.

In these processes, promoter-induced intermediates facilitate specific reaction pathways, enabling controlled growth via vapor-solid-solid (VSS) or vapor-liquid-solid (VLS) modes. While previous studies have primarily focused on transition metal precursors, growth pathways involving engineered chalcogen-based intermediates remain underexplored due to their volatility and low melting points.

This work presents a gas-phase experimental study on the reduction of NO (nitrogen dioxide) to HONO (nitrous acid) by two atmospherically significant volatile organic compounds (VOCs), namely, glycolaldehyde (Gla) and hydroxyacetone (HAc), under a simulated tropospheric condition. FTIR spectroscopic probing reveals that HONO is the only gaseous reduced product of NO in each reaction. The measured data indicate that the reactions in both cases occur in a 2 : 1 stoichiometry with respect to NO and Gla/HAc.

Ionic liquids (ILs) are a class of organic salts with melting points below 100°C. Owing to their unique chemical and physical properties, they are used as solvents and catalysts in various chemical transformations, progressively replacing common volatile organic solvents (VOCs) in green synthetic applications. However, their intrinsic ionic nature can restrict the use of mass spectrometric techniques to monitor the time progress of a reaction occurring in an IL medium, thus preventing one from following the formation of the reaction products or intercepting the reaction intermediates.
